UCF possible NCAA Recruiting Violations?
I don't know what happened to my previous post (it disappeared) but for everybody that was wondering, here is what I found in regards to contact of potential student athletes:

If Micheal Jordan is not a booster then there is no foul. Here is the rule.

http://www.ecupirates.com/compliance/ecu...rules.html

2. ACTIVE RECRUITING INVOLVEMENT is limited to coaches. Only coaches are permitted to be directly involved in the recruiting process. They are the only ones who may meet a prospect or the prospect's parents in person; place a phone call to the prospect; or write to a prospect. BOOSTERS ARE PROHIBITED from making in-person, on or off-campus recruiting contacts, as well as written or telephone communications with a prospect or the prospect's family.

This came into question based on this article:

Staphon Blair, a 6-8 center with a high motor, met NBA legend Michael Jordan on his official visit to UCF and gave a commitment to the Golden Knights.

I'm confused to. Someone else must have moved the thread or deleted it on accident. I dunno.

Michael Jordan goes to some of the practices. Dwight Howard has done the same. I doubt it is a recruiting violation to have a dad at a practice or a NBA star. Dwight Howard was at the football game this weekend. I'm sure recruits tried to talk to him.

Please move this to smack Talk, or merge it with the one that was just moved. He decided to create another one.

Wow...Are you serious? Whats wrong? Are you scared this is some type of violation and you don't want to see it on the main board? I didn't write the article I just provided a link? Big deal. If it is a violation, what we talk about here has no bearing on the outcome anyway.

Nope, I just don't get why you would start another thread, when you already have one. It got moved to the smack talk board for a reason.

Marshall guy, you're grasping at straws. I'm pretty sure someones dad can show up at practice. If MJ loved us so much we would land the Jordan brand for hoops. Let me guess b/c he is famous he can't go to practice or games.

I started another thread because I couldn't find the original thread after researching the rule. There was no smack talk in that original thread. Just a link to an article and some discussion. Why you so worried?

I didn't say he couldn't go to practice or games. The question is whether he met with these recruits (which the article states) and if he did its a violation. Besides, it's not like nobody in the world hasn't read that article already. Geeez.

Why would I go over there and continue the thread when it isn't smack talk? Makes no sense. Why was it moved?

Old thread - Not smack talk
