The board keeps saying there is not enough fan, student, or financial support but what if there was a public fund raiser to show support and bring in financial support. I was originally gonna donate $1k and buy 2 season tickets when they announce the stadium.
Does anyone know someone in the admin they can shoot it buy?

Anything helps, but I think if I pulled $75m outta my arse right now, the BOT would still cockblock.

If 27 luxury boxes committed and paid for isn't fundraising...I don't know what is.

Yep. It's not about money or fan support.

Well, I was accused of being snarky when I suggested a bake sale.

That!

I'll say it again, that excuse they (bot) gave is bull****! This is about power and them flexing their control over UAB athletics and it would seem, the city of Birmingham.

I'll buy season tickets and contribute as much I as can within reason should something like this come about, I like the idea of the fundraiser, though. Really.

committed and paid for are two different things. From what I saw on the slide show, they were pledged as well as the $15 mil.

Hey Pence... I'm just venting, but I have to respectfully disagree a bit.

I think a huge part IS the money. Where are many (most) of Alabama's largest corporations headquartered? Birmingham. Many (most) out of state corporations' district offices are located where in Alabama? Birmingham. UAT has always looked at B'ham as its main source of corporate sponsorships and donations. Really, don't you think?

There is a real threat that UAB would pull a portion of major Birmingham corporations' dollars from that other school. Larger than current portions. It's not received well if ANY major sponsorship dollars are diverted UAB's way.

Years ago, I'm sure you're aware that his daddy didn't want the NFL in Birmingham. He didn't want to lose fans – their money – or the money of Alabama's biggest businesses. They still want all of the major money to feed their machine.

This has to be a major part of the reason for hatred and undermining of UAB by Jr, his allies in the BOT.

True, true.

But considering the patrons I know that bought them...I'd consider them paid for.

Maybe the city and the metro can get behind this project along with the business community and more or less force it down the BOT throat. Make them approve it. There's more money in Birmingham (surrounding area than in any other part of the state) we all should come together on this issue and get it done.

I think a big thing being forgotten here is that the majority of Birmingham, even Big money Birmingham are devout Bama fans, so much so that they would put it ahead of what is best for their city. They might think it is horrible what is happening to UAB, but when push comes to shove, they are not going to stand with UAB.

They will not cross the BOT if it threatens their access to their Tide.

Good points. I was referring to the $75 million for the OCS.

Hey you F'in idiot. Why do you think we want an on campus stadium. One of the minor reasons is concession sales.
Real programs like yours also has boosters that pay players and undercut academics as well.

Don't forget this MFer with our own Blazing Saddles. He is a troll.

Wonder where your players would have ranked if they didn't have someone taking their tests for them.
