Buc Football and Friends Meeting: Dec. 5, 2011
This is a formal invitation for the December meeting of the Buc Football and Friends Foundation, Inc. on Dec. 5th (Monday) at the CM Boggs Conference Room at the Iris Glen Environmental Center in Johnson City. The meeting will start at 6pm with a light meal provided by Chic-fil-a.
In order to have enough food, please RSVP on the Facebook group event OR by PM'ing me here on the message board. I will pass along the numbers.
It looks like we will have several new faces at the meeting, so if you'd like to come out and get involved, this is your chance. You do not have to be a member to attend the meetings, as all are open to the public. Annual members are very reasonable and assist in the administrative costs of the non-profit organization.

Student are most definitely invited!!! Bring some friends. If you can give me a number, we just want to have enough food on hand to fill everybody up. I've already heard from several students that plan to come.
There is a very active facebook group that is approaching 1000 members, if you are in the Face, join us: https://www.facebook.com/BucFootball
There is an event link on that page that you can "attend" as your RSVP.

In the past they've usually started as they were eating, I'd take a stab and say two hours for this one just because I think people will want to have their two cents on the table for the record. CM might keep to the rule book and run off an agenda, not sure.
If you can just come for an hour, I think that is understandable since you will be slipping out for work. This meeting will start the discussion and putting the plans back in place.

I'm very encouraged about last nights meeting. I don't plan to elaborate on what will be happening over the next few weeks. The Foundation will move forward with their plans to meet with Dr. Noland as soon as possible. We need to know if the door is open.
I will say something for the record. It is NOT the job of the Football Foundation to bring the nuts and bolts to Dr. Noland about "how" 'we' will bring back football, if at all. That will be up to a group of people who will hopefully be convened by Dr. Noland. The role of the Football Foundation will be to make the case for football, offer a role in the process, support the efforts through the Foundation's base both financially and by the ability to establish trust with the community, and to give credibility to the effort.
There were familiar faces there last night but there were new faces as well. With the addition of the students who came, I'm excited about what they were saying and hearing from other students.
This won't be easy, but like I told someone once before, if I'd wanted 'easy' I'd been a professor.
No offense, profs! tounge in cheek

I ended up having to work. Wish I could have made it. I will ask off for the next one. And for the record there are many students who are interested in the return of football. I gave a speech on the topic in class last week and everyone was very interested.. and most did support the return of football.. Didn't shock me = )

I was not at the meeting either. Are there updates you can give us that may indicate the tide is turning?
