Where was the media on Black Friday, when the Board of Trustee's tried to shut down UAB football?
Where was the media when a then sitting BoT member (O. Delchamps) actively and successfully campaigned against a then 7-3 UAB team going to a bowl game?
Where was the media when the two lost recruiting classes from the Black Friday attack caught up to the program, resulting in a once promising program falling off a cliff?
Where was the media when the BoT (via Paul Bryant Jr) three times refused to allow us to hire the football coach we wished to hire to start the rebuilding process (Neuhiesel, Fischer, Sullivan) ?
Where was the media when the BoT (via Paul Bryant Jr) forced us to hire his hand picked coach (and former drinking buddy,) and in the process stripping from the program any excitement that should have been generated by a new coaching hire?
Where was the media when the BoT (via Paul Bryant Jr) convinced the President and acting AD of UAB that the bitter pill of a forced coaching hire was swallow-able at by promising us that we could build an on campus stadium in return for the hire?
Where was the media when the BoT (via Paul Bryant Jr) refused to let us fire his hand-picked coach, in spite of his running a once promising program into the very bottom of Division 1 football?
Where was the media when the BoT (via Paul Bryant Jr) forced us to give his hand picked coach an extension, despite his amassing the worst 4 year record in UAB history?, and promising in return that this time we really could have an on campus stadium?
Where is the media now that the promise of an on campus stadium, the carrot for which we have endured so many years of illegal and disastrous micromanagement, has been taken away?

Better question right now is where are Garrison and Mackin? I can understand playing along with the Callaway ordeal to get the stadium. But now that it is suspended indefinitely, they need to be speaking out, rallying everyone and formulating plans. There is no need anymore for being company men (and women).
There was at least some media regarding the Jimbo Fisher debacle. I'm hoping they will see more clearly this time what the real intent of the BOT is. We can only hope.
As long as there is no one on the Southside to validate any of these claims, they will always be at home. Again, as long as Mackin & Garrison continues to feed us lies, it's not much we can do.
There will be national media descending on Tuscaloosa this week looking for stories. We could give them one to write about, but when then when they show pictures of the attendance at the UAB - Houston game, the BOT will look like smart fiscally responsible people.
They were idiotic to put this game up against Bama-LSU. I don't care what kind of homecoming activity is going on. National perspective is more important than some damn bonfire or parade.

Agree with MB. This needs to be a fight to the death. Call the bluff. Bring it up any way and tell them Oh, by the way we just fired callaway. Now deny the firing and explain to the media why he is allowed to remain.
The media is so concerned about Alabama backlash that they wont't dare criticize anything concerning UAT. They are a bunch of cowards who forgot why they became journalists long ago. They'll regurgitate what UAT tells them and let the story die. If they actually did some investigative reporting maybe they'd get some respect. As of now I have none. I just hope there are (still) some who will stand up and set the record straight. A yahoo sports investigation would serve 'em right. Steve and Scarbo we need you to speak up!
Why do you think Carol Garrison or Brian Mackin are going to stand up and fight over this? They'll make their case behind closed doors, but when they get an answer they're going to move on to the next issue. If you worked in an at-will state, would you stand up to your boss and tell him you're not going to do what he tells you?

Before or after I got the icepick from between my shoulder blades?
Your telling me we are not getting a OCS?
Is Callaway staying?
Is it another deal like last year?
If the above is all true.
Why am I coming to the game Saturady?

Brian Mackin, sure, but Carol Garrison has a lot more on her plate in terms of things she wants/needs to get done across the entire campus than football. I'd hate to see her throw the rest of her tenure as president away over this. I hope she's raising hell behind closed doors, though.
This is not "Crimson Tide vs Blazers" as some want to make it. This is an "Arab Spring" type of struggle of despots (BOT) vs freedom fighters who want equality of status between programs at two campuses under a system BOT. The history of the relationship has been "Planter vs Servant" instead. This is the theme of my letter to the NEWS staff challenging them to stand up for their city and its university.
