Attendance?
Does anyone know the attendance figure from last weekend? It seemed fairly descent. The student turnout wasn't as good as I would have hoped but the other side seemed filled.

RE: Attendance?
Nevermind, 16,548 was the official attendance. Not so bad considering the weather and the fact it was Halloween weekend.

RE: Attendance?
Everyone who brought a paper mache 'fan' to sit next to them was allowed in free.

RE: Attendance?
As Couch correctly pointed out in an article a few weeks ago. 16,000+ is the biggest event happening in Kalamazoo. If Waldo only held 20k, that would look like a packed house. Since it holds 30k+ it "looks" disappointing, but in reality is a significant number of people to have in one place cheering for the team. His article, has personally changed my point of view on that topic a bit.
That said, I still dont understand the lack of students sometimes. Is it because both MSU and UofM were playing at noon, so they stayed home and watched those games? Or is it because coming off back to back road losses, the students lose their interest? Not sure, but its a shame that the student support isnt more consistent.
All things considered, I would say that 16k us a pretty decent attendance for this time of year.

RE: Attendance?
This might come as a surprise to a CMU fan, but there are a lot more things to do in Kalamazoo and at WMU than in Mt. Pee and CMU. You're talking about a modern Metropolitan city compared to a small town where the Farmers Coop is probably the second biggest employer.
WMU students who didn't go to the football game probably went to the WMU Hockey Game (4th rated team in the nation!) to watch us take apart NMU Wildcats. CMU doesn't have a hockey team, do they? Or the students probably went to a Broadway quality show at Miller Auditorium, went to one of the many museums in Kalamazoo or simply spent the day shopping at one of the many malls.
CMU doesn't have malls, unless you count the strip mall at one end of town-the one where the Lowes is the cornerstone business.
But you do have that 1" slab pork chop dinner, I'll give you that.

RE: Attendance?
I believe CMU's hockey team plays Club teams of schools who do. I have a friend who played Club for MSU, and they played CMU & Illinois in packed places because the Club level was -the- level for some of them.

'Packed' attendence for club matches is 35 people-and then only if the team pitches in and provides a keg.
WMU still have the women's club hockey team (Stallions?)?

The WMU Stallions is a guys club team. (Please tell me you didnt really think a womens team would be named the "Stallions")
The WMU Mustangs is the women's team.

Apparently you failed to see that I was paying compliment to the attendance Saturday.
For the record. I live in Kalamazoo, I have for my entire life except for the 4 years I spent in Mt Pleasant. I understand the differences between the 2 towns.
And as I stated, 16k is a good turnout. The only thing I do have to take a little exception with you on is.... You said that the students didnt show up because they were at the hockey game. Lawson has maybe 1000 students there....so that doesnt hold water to why they arent at the football game....and 2, how many of thost students to you really think were at a broadway show or museum? They were at the dorm, apartment or house....watching UofM or MSU and enjoying a few brews.

Yes, I agree. I'd certainly like to give a few of those ladies a "slap shot" (in the most affectionate way of course)!

Are you sure you wouldn't want to "high stick" them?

Just curious. Did you get anything added to your "warning" level for that; or are the moderators sleeping? Funny stuff though.

Why would I get my warning level increased? Were only talking about hockey penalties after all...
