Well, he does have two families to support. I would imagine the UAB job pays more than he makes in Georgia.

The supporters just don't get that the baggage with him will keep him from being considered.

The day we hire Rush Probst for any position at UAB is the day Carol Z. Garrison resigns and chooses Larry Langford as her successor.

UAB Football would have been MUCH BETTER in the long run if, years ago, UAB had kept Jim Hilyer as Head Football Coach, allowing him to coach on Division 1 level. He was a gifted coach, a winner, well respected. He was the type of person that players looked up to. He was a true inspiration. They just did not give him a chance to prove himself. Instead, as I recall, they let him go and hired Watson Brown. That was, my sincere belief, a devastating blow to UAB Football.

They are simply well meaning simpletons who don't know better. In their feeble mind, he was a good high school coach. UAB is like a high school (meaning they don't have a football team like Alabama) so its a perfect match.

I think it's been made very clear by the majority of Blazer Nation that Mr. Propst's services as head football coach are not wanted at UAB. But then again, no one here in their right mind wanted Neil Callaway, either.

I don't recall if Propst had a "wife " and a "mistress" or if he actually had two wives (and two families), one in Hoover and one in Pell City.

Sorry, but what were the head coaching jobs that Hilyer was offered after UAB?

I've lost count.

Jim Hilyer did a great service for our program, of this there is no question. However, just because we made two serious hiring blunders after his tenure, it doesn't mean that he would have had any more success.

I think that it divided UAB into those that supported Hilyer & those who were around when zero was coach.

No, he may not have won any more games, but he may have deserved to be coach a few more years.
