I get what you are saying about MWC TV deal. Curious as to how things would change in that regard with the new configuration of the MWC-CUSA.
Wonder how your other sports feel about changing conferences.
Our other sports are probably not happy.
Football drives the buss and the sports in our location, so what is best for football is best for everyone.
Totally understand. As I said, if I was guaranteed AQ status (if such a thing exists), I wouldn't hesitate. Otherwise, I worry about hitching my wagon to a set of schools who don't want to be there. Regardless, good luck. Your president seems to be a smart dude who has remained pretty level-headed through the whole process. He'll do what is best.
...and to answer your question on the TV deal with the merger....
It was nothing more than a hedge against the probable loss of Boise, AF, Houston, SMU and UCF.
Take those teams and markets out of any television contract and you get little to no return.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the BEAST turn down 1.4 billion this summer from ESPN?
With the loss of Cuse, Pitt and WVU/Ville, can the addition of 2 large Texas markets along with a 2 service academies the Orlando market and a national brand, bring the tv value back to something comparable?
Take away 3 and add 6 should place the BEAST in good standing, shouldn't it?
Could be. You are assuming that UH and SMU bring a good share of the Houston and Dallas market (which they don't, but hey, TV people may not care). However, if there still is AQ status and the Big East isn't one, I would think the price of the deal would come down.
Who knows. I'm just ready for it all to be over.
Latest numbers being thrown around if NBC gets the TV contract is 200 mill

For how long? Per year? If so...that would be beyond ridiculous.

If there was a guarantee of AQ status or even if AQ exists past 2013 then I am sure everyone would accept no matter how crazy and distant the schedule would be. The odds that one of those two will be available beyond 2013 just seems hard to comprehend. The SEC is licking their chops at getting three schools in and talk about butt hurt if they have three schools this year in the top 12 and the least sends a team with 3 or 4 losses and a ESPN elevated ranking over the third SEC team.
I don't see them paying that amount of money to join with the uncertainty that abounds, but that is why we all just post thoughts on an electronic sports board and do not make actual decisions.

I'm sure at the time Boise State started talking to the MWC that was the idea.
But by the time Boise accepted the invitation, Utah was already on its way out. Utah officially accepted its Pac-12 invitation only a few days after Boise State accepted its MWC invitation.
The obvious irony here is the BSU is about to walk into exactly the same situation. Every current Big East football school is desperately looking for a way out of the conference. Either WVU or Louisville is leaving for sure. By the time BSU joins it's conceivable that Cincinnati, UConn and Rutgers will be headed for the exit as well.
As the saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
But it doesn't matter, I think BSU will take the invitation anyhow. The money is too much to resist.
