Oral Roberts Joins Southland Conference
ORU will become the 10th member of the Southland Conference and will begin play next year. Here's a link to the story:

ORU was one of the schools that I thought would be a good replacement in the SBC for Denver next year. Obviously that's out the window. And with ORU leaving the Summit League, that conference has even less attraction for Little Rock than before. And it didn't have that much with me to start with, other than ORU and possibly UMKC.

I guess the SBC is waiting for all of the football shoes to drop to chart a course on what it wants to do next, if anything.

Now what does the Summit do? Down to eight teams.
Looks like the domino effect is trickling down.

It seems logical to me that somewhere in all this fiasco one of the conferences will collapse.

Eight teams is certainly enough for a league. In fact that used to be the standard number for a league. But, I believe UNO (The University of Nebraska at Omaha) is getting ready to step up to Division I and is expected to join the Summit League. That would make nine.

But the Ancient Eight just keeps rolling along, with all those great old rivalries.

I would have loved for Oral Roberts to join the SBC. It would have been another good regional rival. I wonder if Tulsa would consider joining the SBC now that the league is becoming a pretty good football league. That would be terrific if the league could swing that.
