I don't think CMU is all that terrible, actually. Inconsistent, yes. But they aren't Kent-Akron-Buffalo bad.

Wow, anyone have a like to their popular web boards? I'd like to see how they melted down in relation to ours here. 03-lmfao

At the end of the day, I think that this weekend has only proved one thing:

No matter how you slice it, the MAC is still the MAC... providing the requisite mediocrity and head-scratching results every week!

RE: Around the MAC 10/22/11
That's why it would be good for everybody to realize that there are no great teams in the MAC, no matter how much we all (MAC fans) delude ourselves. Individual teams may have a nice upset here and there and occasionally, one team rides a great QB for a few years. Mostly, it is just parity for the majority of teams in the league.

Look at today's results;

NIU beat Buffalo because UB missed an 03-hissyfit XP with 14 seconds left. UB is bringing up the bottom of the east but has some good looking young players.

BG beats Temple, a team that has been steamrolling everybody except Toledo, who crushed them. The same BG that a great Bronco second half put away.

I'm watching Miami and Toledo right now, hoping by some miracle that Miami could pull off an upset and make things interesting in the west. It doesn't look good early, as Miami is so offensively challenged.

Assuming our team hasn't completely checked out mentally after today, if they don't beat BSU we are much worse off than everybody fears.

BSU came from 17 points down to beat CMU today. They are now 5-3 (3-1 MAC) and also beat a BCS team earlier this season. They may not be worldbeaters. But they are playing with some confidence - sounding familiar, i.e. EMU - and are more than capable of beating a downtrodden team suddenly doubting themselves.

Is Indiana really a BCS team? 04-chairshot

They have struggled at times this year to score. Temple shut them down. Plus, the BSU team has in the back of their mind that we kicked their butts last season. Perhaps Lembo has them turned around.

Toledo is pouring it on. Just scored again to go up 21 - 0 in the first quarter at homecoming in Toledo.

With post-game quotes like this...

Quote:"It does look bleak," Broncos quarterback Alex Carder said.

"You put everything into winning and when you don’t, it raises a lot of questions."

...doesn't really boost a sense of optimism.

On paper, using our 'September Broncos', we'd crush Ball State. Now? Not so much.
