Divisions if WVU, UofL & BYU ????
How would divisions work if the rumored 3 go to BigXII. You would really have to keep the Eastern most teams together as it's already stretched out, and the 4 Texas schools will all want to be together. You might think about even moving OU/Okie St to opposite div so there is more of a chance of Texas/OU champ game. But any way you go about it someone has to be in the wrong division.

BYU has to go the West. Would you keep one of Ok St and OU in opposite div and allow them to be each others primary cross-over games? It would have to be Ok St, because Texas has to play Oklahoma. Would OK St do that?

Could you split Kansas/KState, and OU/Ok St in East with OU/Texas being primary rival cross-over game?

Big 12

EAST
1-West Virginia
2-Louisville
3-Iowa State
4-Kansas State
5-Kansas
6-Oklahoma State

WEST
1-TCU
2-Texas Tech
3-Baylor
4-BYU
5-Texas
6-Oklahoma

---OR---

EAST
1-West Virginia
2-Louisville
3-Iowa State
4-Oklahoma
5-Oklahoma State
6-Kansas

WEST
1-TCU
2-BYU
3-Baylor
4-Texas
5-Texas Tech
6-K-State

Opposite divisions are primary cross overs. What are your thoughts? Do I smell 14?

Or since BYU is so far away from everyone, keep it North-South. Provo is as far North as Morgantown.

Big 12

NORTH

West Virginia
Louisville
BYU
Iowa State
Kansas State
Kansas

SOUTH

Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
TCU
Baylor
Texas
Texas Tech

It'll be North/South most likely:

North:

BYU
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Louisville
West Virginia

South:

Oklahoma
OSU
Texas
TT
Baylor
TCU

I don't think that OU and Texas will want to be in separate divisions and potentially play each other twice on a regular basis.

If they do decide to split OU and Texas, then I think you're looking at East/West divisions

East:

West Virginia
Louisville
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
TCU
Baylor

West:

BYU
Iowa State
Kansas State
Kansas
Texas Tech
Texas

Happy for my friends at WVU to have this opportunity, but I have to say that looking at these divisions (this conference) w/ WVU included just doesn't look right......03-idea

It would likely be north and south divisions, IMO.

North
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
BYU
WVU
Louisville

South
Texas
TCU
Baylor
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
Oklahoma

I believe they would rather have one loaded division than a strong likelihood of a Texas/Oklahoma rematch most years.

I completely agree. Congrats to WVU, Louisville and BYU if it goes down that way. But I would rather see them invite SMU, Houston and Rice and correct their error in the original merger.

Have a cross over game

It was not a merger.....the Big8 invited A&M and UT then Texas politics made them take Baylor and Tech.

I like your 2nd east-west

if we do make it to the Big 12ish, I really don't want to play BYU on a regular basis

And this is why there is a good case to go all out and have a 14 team conference. You could make much better divisions with 14 teams.

EAST
WVU
Cincinnati
Louisville
Missouri/Memphis
Iowa St.
Kansas
Kansas St.

WEST
BYU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St.
Texas
Texas Tech
TCU
Baylor

Looks much better....Would work for everone IMO.
