By the way, I don't pay much attention to Sagarin for football except for the ELO_CHESS (since it gives you some insight into the BCS ratings). But if you've never followed it before, some interesting insight can be gained for college BB from the Predictor, with excellent potential pecuniary benefit...

What is a Predictor Ranking?

The Sagarin Predictor ranking includes margin of victory. Many times more valid than the simple Sagarin rating.

From the Sagarin website:

Quote:In ELO CHESS, only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence,
which makes it very "politically correct". However it is less accurate in its predictions for
upcoming games than is the PURE POINTS, in which the score margin is the only thing that matters.
PURE POINTS is also known as PREDICTOR

Right, I know how it works, I've just never though Predictor was very good for fball. Actually I should say it's never very good for football until 9-10 weeks have passed. It's not very good for bball either until some games have been played - but it's damn accurate after that. Don't get me wrong though, if anything SMU should be ranked higher than Predictor is putting them.

That's actually pretty impressive. All those teams are better than our bottom half, except AFA, who isn't any worse. Two of them are better than our 5-1 team, and Houston's basically even.

Sagarin is evidence that we won't miss Pitt & Syracuse at all in FB. This expansion will improve our chances of remaining AQ. The conference will be much more interesting.

Of course, expansion means a setback in BB. No way to deny that.
