Did Big East already send UCF invite along with 4 conditional invites?
This guy is referencing a source at ESPN.com but I don't see this anywhere. I wonder if he is refering to all those rumors of invites going out before the weekend?

Or maybe the invites are tied to the vote tonight?

http://arbiteronline.com/2011/10/17/big-...a-part-of/

The Big East has sent conditional invitations to Houston and Southern Methodist University in all sports and Boise State and Air Force in football only, according to ESPN.com, a source directly tied in with Big East Conference shifting.

The Big East also sent an all-sport invitation to University of Central Florida, an invitation they plan on accepting.

The Big East also told the four potentially incoming schools if they were to accept the invitation to join, the remaining schools would agree to increase the exit fee from $5 million to $10 million to show stability and commitment to the incoming schools. However, the schools are only willing to hike up the fees if the four schools accept the invitations.

This is yesterday's news. BE trying to lock in WVU and UL tonight before they bolt to B12 with news from NY Times Mizzou going to SEC

Yeah, I think he is refering to Andy Katz article from the 15th which is two days old.

I've been looking this morning and have seen nothing official about any invites being issued as yet...

Nothing formal has been sent to UCF.

This is Katz respewing what he said a week ago about the talks in Cincy. Nothing with UCF has happened. We only know Houston and possibly the academies and Boise have an invite in hand.

Oh please, please, please. "Invitations" are formalities. They aren't going to issue an "invite" until it's already been accepted.

You don't seriously believe Boise St. comes in your last two scenarios?

If Louisville leaves, I stop speculating about the Big East. It'll be none of my business. I'm kinda liking the direction the conference will go, though, and am hoping we see no need to leave. But Maize's latest thread (combined with news about Mizzou's plans) disturbs me. If the trustees are meeting, I think the end might be in sight. They probably wouldn't do that unless talks with the Big 12 had advanced beyond exploration stage.

Why not? That league wil have AQ for next two years and will have a better TV contract and shot at BCS access than the 22 team merger which is their other option.

RE: Did Big East already send UCF invite along with 4 conditional invites?
How is this mess going to be divided up? I hope the original Big East members are left together in a division and the new members are put into a division.

Old Division
UConn
Rutgers
WVU
Cincinnati
Louisville
USF
New Division
Boise St.
Air Force
SMU
Houston
UCF
Navy

If it's broken down by East vs. West I will completely HATE the set up.

East
UConn
Rutgers
Navy
WVU
USF
UCF
West
Louisville
Cincinnati
Boise St.
Air Force
Houston
SMU

It's gonna be a zipper setup, maybe.

Division A----- Division B
Rutgers----- Cincinnati
Navy----- Air Force
UConn----- Louisville
UCF----- USF
West Virginia - Boise State
Houston ----- SMU

I am not sure this will be the end result. But if it is, why would you not have UConn & Rutgers together? Or Louisville & Cincinnati?

I do have both of those pairs together, in the same division.
Edit: I see what you are talking about now, I think. It's not really a "zipper" set up, oh well.
