RE: New Recruit Levon Myers
We have -4- OL recruits so far, we might sign 6 if we get that JC. Im nervous about next year OL, losing Loos this year put a blip in his development. I have been watching the second OL in the WMU game. I see 1 or 2 that can contribute as of now for next year.

The big uglies take a while in then all of a sudden it pops for them and they get it. Hopefully that is what happens. Maybe one of DD's -3- OL recruits from last year step up.

What ever happened to the OL transfer from Illinois. Is he on the team?

You are referring to Leon Hill. He was supposed to play at Joliet JC last year but that didn't happen and he doesn't seem to be playing anywhere. May have been a grade casualty.

I am "old school" as I still believe that the games are won or lost in the trenches. Even the best skill players will not show well if the O line is not solid.

This bodes well for the future.

I just scrolled through the 2012 Verbal Thread and focused on the sizes of the lineman (DL too).

Oh my lord......

I did that too. The "smallest" of the OL recruits is also the highest rated by all the scouting services.

When this group develops they are going to be dominant.

Grades, or he just plain lost his want when it comes to football.

Also- the size of our OL verbals is right on target with what I think you want to see in incoming Fr. They've got good platforms to build on. Lots of projection there. The ones who love the weight room and the weight room loves back have it in them to be something.

Do you think since he got the Wisconsin offer he might get bumped to a 3-star recruit?

Probably, but he's already been downgraded back to a 2-star.

Compare and contrast Myers and Church.

Re: Myers:
"Levon has decided not to accept the scholarship offer from UW," his father Marion Myers reported. "There are many reasons for this, but most of all, he felt that he did not have any real connection with anyone at UW and most of all, he should honor his commitment to NIU because he honors his word. This is how we have raised him."

Myers is our type of guy.

i love this its great, but its happened many times before.

Notably, Larry English got offered by Iowa 3 days before signing day and he stuck with NIU.

I wish more guys would do it...

This is the kind of guy we want at NIU. Looks like a great addition of a kid with character. Welcome to NIU, Levon!
