Alliance/Merger question
If for whatever reason the BCS does grant this alliance/merger a BCS spot, do we really want for either conference to add programs if teams (Boise, AFA, USM, Houston, UCF) bolt for the Big East?

The reason I ask is because I'm guessing there is going to be some sort of revenue sharing between the two conferences. Wouldn't we rather split it amongst 17 schools rather than 22?

RE: Alliance/Merger question
I know they said they wanted both conferences to have the same number of teams. They of course are calling them divisions but you know what I mean. So if no one leaves C-USA then either 2 slide over from C-USA (DO NOT SEE IT HAPPENING) or the MWC adds Utah State and San Jose State.. The MWC will have to add 2 schools anyway because they are down to 8 members in basketball and 14 conference games does not cut it. Plus other Olympic sports have less then 6 teams.
They basically said the only reason they decided to go with the idea was Boise said they was gonna stay. But if they lose the other 5 I think it would be kind of silly for Boise to stay.
There is also know way they can determine who should play in the championship game if they are gonna play cross over games unless they go to the pod system. And I am not a fan of that because Boise will end up playing an even weaker schedule then it does now Imagine:

UNLV
Nevada
Utah State
New Mexico
Marshall
UAB
San Jose State
Hawaii

See that? They will have to determine a better way of doing schedules.

Assuming everyone stays and the MWC adds 2 they will almost certainly have to schedule year by year and do some kind of ranking system to make sure teams that will be strong every year like Boise, Houston, and USM have enough good games to where they do not get screwed in the rankings.

RE: Alliance/Merger question
I'll be honest, I would love it if two schools slid over to the MW from C-USA. I guess the championship game is nice and all, but it wouldn't bother me if we didn't have it.

Besides, are we just going to have a giant 12 team division where you don't play everyone in your league and decide that is a decent way to decide who wins each "division"? I know that the former "Big 11" ran their conference that way, but it doesn't make it right. Because it would be silly to have a conference championship game and then a merger/alliance championship game.

I'm just not really buying into this merger deal. It would make me feel better if they spoke to the BCS about it and got some kind of deal from them before they were all gung-ho about combining the two. For all we know there may never be a BCS bid for this alliance.
