Catholic Basketball Conference
Here is what I think the basketball schools should do if a split occurs, or if all the football members are raided/leave.

[Image: 315833_110557629054145_100002997257374_7...8238_n.jpg]

The black line separates East and West divisions.

From left to right the teams area as follows.

Creighton, Drake, St Louis, Marquette, DePaul, Notre Dame, Xavier, Dayton

Duquesne, St Bonaventure, Georgetown, Villanova, Seton Hall, St Johns, Holy Cross, Providence

All of these schools are in big TV markets, and are all private basketball first schools. Notre Dame is a football first school, but with football being Indy they want to protect their other sports. So, basketball is a top priority to them within the conference.

Here's a list of the TV markets this conference covers.

New York #1
Chicago #3
Philadelphia #4
Boston #7
D.C. #9
St Louis #21
Pittsburgh #23
Cincinnati #34
Milwaukee #35
Providence #52
Dayton #64
Des Moines #71
Omaha #76
South Bend #89

I think it would be a sweet basketball conference to watch. 04-cheers

RE: Catholic Basketball Conference
As a nonmember I would give a reasonable amount of attention to that conference. I'd watch it more than I do the current A-10 but less than most other BCS conferences.

Demoines? Really? Come on we all know they wont go back to 16 since they never really wanted that number to begin with. Most likely they go to 12 and add Butler, Xavier, Dayton and Richmond.

Millions of college basketball fans in the Northeast and Midwest, that is who would care.

Many of these folks, particularly in the big Northeast cities, really could care less about college football (or baseball).

Give them a good conference for college basketball and they will be happy. Throw in a lacrosse league for good measure....

I think everyone on this board wants the Catholic schools to split and fall off the map into oblivion. The football schools have been their ***** for too long. It is probably embarrassing to schools like Rutgers and UConn that they look hopeless next to them.
Pitt and Syracuse are the only ones who look smart right now in the conference. Funny enough....when the split happens those basketball only schools look mediocre except for Marquette and Nova.

Now rotate that camera 180 degrees, and you'll see it's in the middle of nowhere. Honestly.

This is a sweet idea. I would definitely watch. Not sure about Drake, although Creighton is a must. Their attendance for basketball is top-20 in the country even during down years.

I included Drake to bridge the gap between Chreighton and the rest of the West division.

I just don't think they are going to go to 16 since they only went to 16 before to appease the FB schools. I think they go to either 10 or 12 and leave it at that.

I do too. Just thought this would be a cool 16 team league, that includes all the premier religious schools from the Northeast and Midwest. (Drake was founded in affiliation with the Christian church, but today it has no affiliation 03-shhhh )

Not me. I don't want the Catholic basketball schools to fade into oblivion, even if ND is not in their conference.

I have more of a natural affinity towards them than I do the BE football schools.

Maybe it is a Catholic thing. I hope they do well.
