Actually yesterday was better than it usually is for SMU as far as attendance goes.

This is unmitigated bull****. Look, I'm sorry your team got left out to this point, but to come on here and purposely broadcast such information does not reflect well on you or ECU.

Thanks for the welcome, Big East! Very much looking forward to it.

Hard to blame them, who would get excited over a conference game of SMU vs Central Florida 03-zzz

...Oh wait...

Who started the comment at the top about the game attendance??Somebody from the Big East did , then you thank em for welcoming SMU into the conference??01-wingedeagle

The only game SMU typically averages more than 20,000 at home is the Iron Skillet. Most of the time it's around 18,000 at a game.

Wow, thats hard to believe. That is really bad, why are they building a new stadium? Is SMU's fanbase just built up of 5000 ultra wealthy people? maybe they should build the first ever all-suite stadium, with no general admission seating.

I'm a Houston guy, and I call BS on that photo. SMU typically averages fine in C-USA, and much better than that photo shows. Was this before the game or something?

I don't believe SMU is building a new stadium. Their stadium is really new still. I believe you're thinking of us at Houston. We have been selling 99% capacity for several years now.

Crowd shot video clip from thread on the CUSA Board:

SMU certainly has issues...as even after their biggest football victory in over 25 years in their previous game (OT win at TCU), they still couldn't fill up 1/2 of their small 32,000 seat stadium for their first home game after that...even though SMU offered up $10 tix for the remainder of the season (4 games for $40.33 in honor of SMU's 40-33 win over TCU).

Would not roll out the red carpet for Boise St. just yet. They are waiting for the best offer. Even Big East folks have to admit that if for any reason Boise St. manages to snag a Big 12 invite that there is not even a debate on which invite you take...Big 12 vs Big East

First...Attendance has abolutely nothing to do with Big East expansion. Second great win by SMU over UCF 04-cheers I watched the game from beginning to end. SMU had a solid crowd on the home side...looked 80% full. Visitor side looked maybe 50-60% full and endzone was basically empty. Very weak crowd considering SMU had just beat TCU and the weather was beautiful but SMU is a small school and they play in a Pro market dominated by Cowboys, UT and High School FB. Once they are in the Big East I am sure they will get a bump in attendance but not like they are designed to park 50-60k people in the stands for every game. If they can grow to 35-40k they will be fine in Big East

I think AF and Boise will be in. To much $$ to walk away from for Boise, and AF will decide it is better for them as well. Navy may be a different matter.

I don't know how many usually show up, but that was bad. In their defense there was a playoff base ball game that eve. That could not have helped.

I don't think Boise is a realistic option for B12, just to many factors working against them. Football strength is not the force driving the B12 possible expansion. Only way they come into play is if the B12 goes to B14 and that is still iffy.
