The alliance set the table for the BCS and the Big 5 leagues to pay themselves more.
With the alliance in place, the Big 5 leagues can kill off the Big East and force the remnants to the CUSA/MWC. What that accomplishes:

1. It makes the Big East AQ slot an at large for the Big Ten, the ACC, the SEC, the Big 12, and the Pac 10. The currently legislated at large spot for non AQ members will still exist.

2. 22-28 teams fighting over one slot is preferable for the Big 5 then giving one to the Big East and one at large to the rest.

I would expect to hear some announcements from the SEC, Big 12, ACC, Pac 12, and Big Ten soon.

The Big East is about to get demolished.

The stability that Navy, Air Force, and Boise is looking for just got worse. Now, it's in the best interest of the Big 5 leagues to QUICKLY kill off the Big East and take their money.

Well played CUSA and MWC. Turn the spotlight on the Big East and set the big dogs loose on them.

You may be right on some of this.

You have only 6 BE schools out there. Big XII takes 3, ACC takes 3 and they are pretty much finished.

Or even Louisville to the Big XII, WVU, UConn, Rutgers to the ACC. Cincinnati and USF fall back to C-MWC for 24 teams.

Yep, the announcement of the alliance happened today to give the Big 5 leagues more reasons to kill the Big East. The stability of the Big East JUST GOT WORSE.

Say goodbye to the Big East. Their money is on the table and the alliance just made it MORE profitable for the Big 5 leagues to end the Big East.

There is no question that the BE is unstable and vulnerable but make no mistake about it, the Big East is going to pluck the best of C-USA and MWC before the week is through.

I don't know if Boise and AFA will risk going across the country to join a league that is going to get killed off, which is what is happening right now.

The increased exit fees aren't a big deal for WVU, Louisville, Uconn, Rutgers, or Cinnci. For a team in the western half of the U.S.A with a budget of 25 million dollars they are a huge deal. A 20 million dollar exit fee does not keep Big East football schools from leaving. It keeps Boise and Air Force from leaving after the Big East football schools graduate to the big leagues, which is exactly what is about to happen when the Big 5 leagues make a play for the Big East's AQ.

Exit fees may be increased on Monday, but Louisville and WVU have refused to participate in the vote. It's still very possible those two will be gone soon. If they are, the Big East Expansion plan will unravel quickly.

FTFY

WVU to the ACC, as far as the ACC presidents go is a non-starter.

How about Louisville and WVU to C-MWC instead? They'll have a better chance of success there than a real conference.

The Big East will not die.
It will just stop sponsoring football.
