RE: Dre out for three weeks
Looks like we may be playing a lot of small ball this year, like it or not.

We don't need no stinkin injuries. He will miss just three weeks (hopefully) so he won't miss the season. He will miss all the conditioning work.

OK, the paper says Guy had surgery and will be out three weeks, not Dre. I trust BTH has the correct info.

It was a misprint. Talked with Marlo last night, and it is Dre who had surgery, not Chuck.01-lauramac2

RE: Dre out for three weeks
Ever since WN committed out of high school we have been waiting for this year. Seems forever and then some. We have most of the pieces of the puzzle in place that we need in order to compete in and out of conference. But every year it seems something comes up, injuries, grades, attitudes, and after a collective sigh we say "next year will be the year." I am tired of saying that. NOW is the time for this team to do something big.

Let's put it this way. Most anticipated player who ever showed up on campus. Will Coleman was one of the highest rated players in the country, as I recall, but he didn't qualify, and didn't come back. But we've never had a big man with the type of skills Will possesses. It will be interesting to see how he matures.

I'd say this guy was the most anticipated for me, although it was quite some time ago. WN may be very good, but I don't know about him being a lottery pick-

Carlos Deon Rogers (born February 6, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American professional basketball player who was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1st round (11th overall) of the 1994 NBA Draft.

A 6'11" forward-center from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Tennessee State University, Rogers played in eight NBA seasons from 1994 to 2002. He played for the Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers.

In his NBA career, Rogers played in 298 games and scored a total of 2,196 points.

I do not think WN is a lottery pick nor do I believe he is the savior of the program. He is a very good piece to the puzzle. Do not know that he will score a lot, though I believe he can score from anywhere on the floor. What I do believe is he will make those around him much better the same way Dre does.

My optimistic (realistic?) hope is that, given his natural size and skills, with 3 years to put on strength and work with Big Joe he could develop into a player that some NBA team will consider drafting in the second round. Maybe he could make a roster, but more likely be a very good player in Europe.

That is what I am counting on. If he scores 10 ppg, but if he makes the other four 2 ppg better, that adds up. Some players (e. g. John Fowler) do things that don't show up on the stat sheet. I am hoping WN is that kind of player.

Sometimes I think your dream basketball team would be one that won games 2-0, and your least favorite player would be the guy who scored! 04-bow04-bow04-bow

Wn is the we have been looking for. The other team will have to game plan for him. Are you going play a smaller guy on him and get taken to the post or a big guy and have guard him on the court?

He makes jeaves better because the focus will not be on him.

Throw in dre and the shooters should get open looks and the other bigs should get point blank looks.
