ESPN article also mentions the money figures in the Missouri document.

Every school in the SEC already makes more than Notre Dame. With the new contract every school will make more than Texas with their LHN.

You are right. I don't see how CUSA, MWC, WAC, and SunBelt schools have a prayer. The other major conferences are in danger of being as far behind the SEC as the non-qualifiers have been behind the BCS schools. It is very sobering.

That my friends is a really big bomb. Can their be any doubt VT, NC, NCS, FSU, and OU heard it? Big changes are coming.

Just one of many links to the "leak".

Where are you getting the $29 million figure? I'm reading $19 mill + additional monies in tier 3 rights, which are not part of the contract.

ND is not giving up football independence no matter how much money Missouri and the SEC might make from TV.

Where are you getting the $29 million figure? I'm reading $19 mill + additional monies in tier 3 rights, which are not part of the contract.

"The report suggests Missouri could earn $17.16 million in Big 12 TV money in fiscal year 2012, compared to $19.25 million from an SEC deal.

It also envisions a far bigger “per member share potential” should a larger SEC — with millions of more eyeballs in Texas and the Midwest — renegotiate its top-tier TV rights — up to $12 million more per year."

adds up to 31.25 million dollars. The additional is 12 comes from possible future renegotiated TOP TIER tv rights. That says nothing about tier 3. That is something even beyond the 31 million possibility.

He must be getting 29 million because he added up the Big12 money figure with the 12 million figure that the SEC could renegotiate for. So actually he was stating an even lower number not too high of a number.

I know ESPN, and every other media outlet bends over legs wide open for the SEC, but really 36million PER SCHOOL!!! If this happens how long will it take congress to implement some sort of task force in understanding just how these conference can make this kind of cash when the economy is at or near a all time low??? When will this madness stop for the game can only take so much IMO for it has to be getting close to it's breaking point don't you think??? If this happens there is no way what so ever other conference will be able to compete with the SEC. Yes they will lose some games here and there, but they will control every National Championship from here till the end of time with this kind of funding they are proposing. When does it stop???

36 million times 16 teams (max amount) equals 576 million. There are other industries/corporations making a whole lot more then 576 million and paying very little if no taxes on such. If Congress gets involved in this college football issue then they open themselves up big time. I wouldn't mind that at all so by all means I hope that Congress gets involved.

Now, now, TerryD, you know that one day Notre Dame will join a conference. But you are right in that Notre Dame will not join a conference just because of the money.
Notre Dame will end up joining a conference because it will enhance the University and enrich the lives of their student athletes.

I can say with almost absolute certainty that NC State and UNC will never leave the ACC. I don't know about FSU or Va Tech, but UNC and NCSU will not leave the ACC. Their alumni are very loyal to the ACC and would never allow that to happen. Not to mention that Debbie Yow the NCSU AD said that they have no interest in ever joining the SEC. She even went so far as saying that they can't even compete in the ACC, so why would they want to go to and compete in the SEC.

Yes He1nousOne, I went with the lower number because I read several articles about the leak, and some suggested the $12 million figure was the amount Missouri would get over their current tier 1 & 2 rights and others seem to indicate it was the amount each school in a 14 member SEC getting $12 million more than they currently receive from their present tier 1 & 2 rights contract. Big money, nonetheless.

We're rich beyotch!

But seriously, the SEC never would have taken A&M if they didn't believe it would lead to an immediate and highly lucrative renegotiation.

We are hearing similar estimates of 28-30 mil per school from TV and another 5-8 mil for an SEC network which is supposed to be a huge priority for the SEC to prevent ESPN from trying to pull any divisive, LHN type stunts in the SEC.

Tailgator, just for the record. The PTB at Carolina would be happy with a four team conference (Wake Forest, Dook, UVa, and Carolina).
