MyBB FAU lands BIG BBall Recruit
Per ESPN's Chris Biancardi via Twitter earlier this evening:
"PF Chris Bryant just made his pledge to play at Florida Atlantic! A big time get 4 Coach Mike Jarvis/staff .Bryant is a high major athlete."

#8 ranked Player in state of Florida!!!

Forward Chris Bryant commits to FAU hoops

Reigning Class 3A player of the year Chris Bryant knows where he will play basketball next season.

“I'm an Owl,” Bryant said.

The 6-foot-9 Bryant, who can play guard or forward, reached the decision to play for FAU on Monday, three days after taking his official visit to Boca Raton.

“I liked everything really,” Bryant said. “I had never been there, so when I got there I was shocked at how nice it is.”

Bryant can sign his Letter of Intent on Nov. 9 and said he doesn't plan on visiting any other schools before then. He is the first member of the Owls' 2012 recruiting class.

Bryant averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds as a senior, leading Tallahassee-Rickards to its second consecutive state title.

Following his senior season, Bryant was one of 100 graduating seniors invited to the NBPA camp in Charlottesville Virginia.

He had been was recruited by the likes of Florida State, Virginia Tech and Houston, but is currently attending Fishburne Military Academy - a prep school in Virginia. Bryant is hoping to improve his test scores while at Fishburne.

He retook one of those tests on Saturday, and believes he improved significantly.

Gainesville native, and current FAU guard, Dennis Mavin served as Bryant's host during the visit. A couple of years ago Bryant and Mavin were AAU teammates on Nike Team Florida.

“That made another plus,” Bryant said.

Bryant noted the ability to play for Mike Jarvis as another big reason he chose FAU, and he also wanted to return to the Sunshine State.

“It's in Florida, so it's not really that far from Tallahassee, and “I'd like to stay in Florida, anyway,” Bryant said. “So everything just mixed together.”

FAU better get a new contract for Jarvis post haste. He is getting it DONE for FAU hoops. I know the stadium was the priority, but now its time to get Jarvis a new deal.

Don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but my goodness, this team could be even better in 2012-13. Again, a lot can happen between now and then, but it's a good time to be an FAU fan.

Seems like sun belt basketball recruiting as a whole is getting a lot better. I'm anxious to see how we'll do in 2012-2013 as well, not sure if the seven freshman we have coming in will be able to produce immediately. It will take some time, excited to see Tony Mitchell play though.

We have 4 freshmen coming in- Williams, Jones, Norris, and Robinson. Tony Mitchell is technically a sophomore (who could potentially get a waiver for a 4th year of eligibility)

Great news for FAU.
