OT: BOA charging for using Debit Cards
http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/e...story.html

You freaking serious. Gotta love these elitist banking bastards. They're charging you $5 a Month just to use your Debit Card even once. People are going that route because they don't want to go into debt using a charge card. Some banks are charging you when you pull money out the bank whether its at an ATM or using a Check. When are people going to wake to the fact that these Banks are out to rape the people of their hard earned $$$. Either way, our Ponzi Scheme of a Monetary System immediately puts the American Public into debt anyways. 03-banghead

Relax Joey. Competition will sort everything out in the long run. I suspect not every bank will go down this route and will reap the rewards. Also, keep in mind that it wasn't that long ago where banks regularly charged a monthly fee for your checking account unless you had a large minimum balance. Keep your eyes on credit unions moving forward, because these will become much more favorable to banking customers in lieu of commercial banks.

The easiest fix is to repeal Dodd-Frank. This bill is the underlying reason why the banks are going to come up with new and creative fees for their customers. This law is a killer for the banks.

Color me as skeptical that competition will sort everything out.

Consumer choice will limit, but not eliminate, these types of fees in the future.

My wife and I, BofA customers for 11 years, are switching to her bank this week because of this additional fee. She works at a smaller bank that is primarily a business bank with a very small personal banking department, i.e. two ATMs in Houston. hahaha But it will truly be "free" checking, ATM, and the like.

If enough people change to credit unions, etc. then the fees will come in to check. Not that that has worked in the airline industry...: )
