ETSU and effort. They haven't. If they did, see Marshall, East Carolina, Appalachian State, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State... I don't think it's that easy to get people to visit Huntington, WV, yet they do. They didn't give up and their whole football team died. Instead, they kept working and are in a good spot.
Three new venues, Golf, private money taken care of by Fred Warren. Had nothing to do with ETSU getting things done.
Soccer - The stadium was two years behind, didn't have lights or a scoreboard when it opened, and wasn't there supposed to be a fieldhouse to go with it? How's that coming along?
Softball - Where's the pressbox? Again, see previous statements about half-assing.
Hampering fundraising effort - We're not stupid, most of us know that there's an untouchable list from the university that athletics can't ask for anything from. You're not the only one who's spent time around ETSU.
No cooperation from the city. They charged rent for use of the softball/soccer fields around Science Hill. The city, county and university years ago should've collectively realized the need for a downtown arena and even if not then, now. You can't tell me that the three can't generate the funds through bonds, tax revenues and corporate partnerships to get an arena that would serve as a downtown centerpiece for ETSU and the city, thus driving more traffic over there. Again, speaks to half assed, piss poor leadership in Johnson City, ETSU and Washington County.
I'll keep it real for a minute, nothing will ever change. People up there are satisfied with their mediocrity, meanwhile the best and brightest will continue to get educations and go where the money is. Dave Mullins is still trying to figure out "Who Moved His Cheese."

slappy - I believe that lover just answered your woeful attempt to refute what has been factual happening at ETSU for years and years.

I'll just throw in two more tidbits I personally know people that pulled their support from ETSU when football was given over to the whims of the student body. One of those donors took his 8,000,000 and went to another school and there was a true billionaire that got blindsided after pledging a large amount to the return of football by the trumped up required student vote. There are many more examples of ETSU bungling and I'm sure their are people on this board that know about them. There are plenty of people at ETSU that know but keep quite because of job security.
