Upcoming season
As a newcomer to all things KSU I have sparingly read a few posts here, over the summer, which have largely indicated uncertainty concerning the upcoming season. Uncertainty is to be expected with a completely new administration although I get the impression uncertainty extends beyond the fresh start of a new coach with so many players rumored to being ineligible. The rumor posts over the summer have felt like panic rather than authentic player departures thus leaving me with a poor understanding of what kind of shape KSU is in this season. My question is KSU building from the ground up or must they start from the cellar?

I was hoping someone could give me an honest non-crazed assessment of where Kennesaw is at this season. Personally, I'm not expecting all that much from them in terms of wins.

I do think if they can find some chemistry along with a little discipline this could be the year they beat etsu. Regardless of the usual garbage from a few of the always predictable flock on the etsu board they are in big trouble this year. They have no size, little experience, bad coaching, and will be led on the floor by mediocre ability. My track record for pinning them in the pre-season is impeccable. Those who are desperately hoping for "fusion"...not so good.

Clearly, all the evidence suggests it will once again be Rick Byrd's year and I don't think even a DAVID lipscomb fan would refute that. It's hard for me to get a feel for the owls potential. My instincts tell me it will be a long and miserable season for KSU. However, a new coach can sometimes change the dynamics of a team by his presence so I'm at a loss. If you guy's have a better feel for this than I do I'd be interested in reading about it.

RE: Upcoming season
Not sure what to expect....new coaches...academically ineligible players....It is going to be interesting. I am really just interested in seeing the team play, and seeing what kind of product Preston is going to put on the floor.

10-12 total. I guess if we are being brutally honest, then 6-8.

Lindy's and Sporting News are both just out.. Lindy's has Kennesaw 5th and in Sporting News 7th in the ASun for the coming season..Both have Belmont, ETSU and Jacksonville 1-2-3..

I believe the Bruins will run the table this year...

RE: Upcoming season
I have a hunch this season isn't going to be the disaster many here think it will be. It certainly won't be a championship worthy season so don't get me wrong. But something tells me there will be an energy and competitiveness to this season that has been lacking the past few years. Just a hunch.

Doubtful. He should probably try and score more points than fouls this year. (43 points to 48 fouls freshmen year)

Although I believe you are correct, with the way the past few seasons have gone, it may not be a bad idea to set low standards and be able to exceed expectations. Every year since the move to DI everyone has had increased expectations and the record continued to get worse. Another thing to consider is the out of conference schedule, honestly, no game is a gimme. It should be interesting to see how KSU will do in the Lewis Preston era.

Expectations of the average Kennesaw fan over the past few years have been unreasonable. I'm not suggesting lofty expectations. I am however suggesting this may not be the basement dweller season as some are suggesting it to be. That is all.

RE: Upcoming season
Didn't think this merited it's own thread. But, over the last couple days I've been in contact with the office of alumni affairs in regards to purchasing season tickets this year at a discount and I was hit with some unfortunate news that I thought I'd pass along. Apparently this season KSU Athletics will only be offering season tickets in a package of both men's and women's games. It is impossible to purchase only men's season tickets. I was very disappointed to find that information out. The alumni discount puts the ticket price at $90, which still isn't bad at all, but it still sucks to know I'll be buying tickets to games I won't go to.

RE: Upcoming season
DUMB idea. No one wants to go to women's basketball games. But I guess with the way we have our games structured now, it was inevitable. We need to separate the games. It is bush league to have a men's college basketball team waiting in the stands for the girls game to end so that they can play.

You have to be what they consider to be an "active alumni". For me I donated $35 to the college of humanities and social sciences (I was a History major). It's good for a year and it gets you a discount that puts the price at $90 on the season tickets which are regularly priced at $150.

And yes mike, there's no way around it. $90=men's and women's tickets.

It sucks, but its still better than paying $10 a ticket for 15 home games or however many it is this year.
