Ugh. There's no way they can keep the Atlantic/Coastal clusterfark divisions, is there?

I can understand why VT wouldn't want to be in a North Division. Looking like Cuse and BE = cross division rivals and Pitt and ??? lol.

Everyone else wants North/South, it just makes sense. For a team that fought and whined so hard to get to the ACC, you'd think they'd just shut up and be thankful they weren't left in a collapsing Big East.

I'm happy to hear a Maryland fan say that. I was afraid MD and VA would fight being put in a North division. I didn't expect VT to object.

we're not a southern school, we're not a southern state. We're tired of being on the fringe of the conference, looking over that great expanse to see BC. All I ask is for a 1 and 1 with Duke and a yearly football game with Virginia.

RE: VT doesn't want to be in a North division
If the ACC does go to the original 7 in one division and everyone else in the other, all problems could be solved by adding 2 more schools and allowing VT to go in the original division.

ACC
-----
East
-----
Boston College
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Miami
Notre Dame or Uconn
Pittsburg
Syracuse
Texas or Rutgers

Mid Atlantic
-----
Duke
Clemson
Maryland
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest

That's not bad either. Just extending the Atlantic and Coastal divisions.

The reason VT would like to be with UVA MD and the North Carolina schools is because of all the close away games that our fans can travel to. I know UVA charges an extra $30 a ticket for VT and sells out and I'm pretty sure the North Carolina schools could do the same if they get away from every game being the same price.

i agree with those: if you add uconn and nd or (more likely) rutgers uconn in the syracuse division (i think bc and them still dont like each other)with rutgers in the pittsburgh division with those 2 teams being cross rivals

I think its fine to not go North-South, but I hate the Atlantic and Coastal Names.

I'd love to scrap the Atlantic and Coastal names. Actually, I'd love to modify the whole ACC name and just refer to the Atlantic League.

You get one guess why I picked the name I did...

I'll be honest, I really don't see how Pitt brings the Philly market. Rutgers has a better shot of doing so than Pitt.

Pitt delivers Western PA. Penn State delivers Central PA and Eastern PA. Penn State delivers pockets of Western PA too. Temple delivers Philly.

I wouldn't mind Temple. I don't know if the ACC wants Temple though. They may have to take Temple if say Rutgers goes to the B1G, and they can only get UConn. Then Temple's chances increase.

RE: VT doesn't want to be in a North division
OK, I'll keep pushing my idea for divisions if the ACC goes to 16.

4 pods: SU, BC, RU, UConn; UVA, UMD, VPI, Pitt; UNC, NCSt, Dook, WF; FSU, GT, Clemson, the U

FB divisions are made up of two pods, but the pods rotate every year. Over a three year period, you play one year in a division with every other pod. That way, everyone plays everyone on a regular basis. Crossover games can be used to balance schedules, maintain rivalries (e.g., SU-Pitt), and make TV matchups.

+1. No way you're getting me to travel all the way to NY/CT/MA for a football game in October and November. Plus breaking up Miami-VT, GT-VT? Really? I still think adding BC was a dumb idea, and now its seems to be panning out even more so given their complete collapse in both FB and BB.

Joey,

You are usually a reasonable poster, a sound moderator (thanks) and a good blogger; however, even you know thet Rutgers fails to bring the Rutgers market, how, then will they bring the Philly market?
