Future Home? BCS worthy?
Myself would hope WVU somehow stays on board and we merge with the leftover Big 12s & a bring in four CUSA schools. Would it be good enough?

WVU
Marshall
Cincinnati
Louisville
Memphis
ECU
USF
UCF

TCU
Baylor
Houston
So. Miss
Kansas
Kansas St.
Missouri
Iowa St.

If WVU does come on board, it's only because there are no other options available, and Memphis and Marshall aren't a part of the package...

Kansas and Kansas State would easily replace Pitt/Cuse.

The Big 14
Big East-------------------Big West
Cincinnati-----------------Houston
Louisville------------------Kansas
USF-----------------------KSU
ECU-----------------------Baylor
UCF-----------------------TCU
Iowa State----------------BYU
Missouri/WVU--------------Boise State

This would be the best possible outcome of a Big 12/BE merger if UT, TTech, OU, and OSU all head west. This conference would certainly retain it's AQ bid as well, travel would be an issue but the risk of getting left behind makes it well worth it. Basketball would be pretty good too...Memphis could be added if BYU or Boise decline an invite.

For the first time in a long while Temple seems like a good option. Anyone agree? disagree?

I would consider Temple as a back-up to BYU and Boise along with Memphis. Not sure either of those programs stand out enough to warrant an expansion to 16 teams though. Really wish Memphis football wasn't so abysmal, similar to Cincinnati and Louisville that athletic program has a lot of potential.

Not happy enough to turn down there only shot at an AQ bid and risk getting left behind.

Air Force, Army, BYU, Navy, and Notre Dame will not be left behind. I've always had a problem with people saying we're heading for 64 teams. Those 5 schools are way to valuable, and 4 of them are Indy. My guess is if there is a split from the BCS those 5 schools will be allowed to come along, but will be Independent.

Let's say Mizzou goes to the SEC over WVU, and WVU chooses not to go Indy. Here is what the conference should look like.

East:

Central Florida
Cincinnati*
East Carolina
Louisville*
South Florida*
West Virginia*

West:

Baylor*
Houston
Iowa State*
Kansas State*
Southern Methodist
Texas Christian*

* - Former AQ member

8 of 12 were AQ I think at least just as a courtesy, they will get AQ status.

If the teams want to go to 14 then put Memphis in the East, and Tulsa in the West.

Notre Dame will not get left behind, the other schools very well could. In fact I think BYU is the only other team from that bunch that might not get left behind. Once the 4/5 super conferences leave the BCS and create a 4-6 team play-off, I doubt any of those schools are given preferential treatment save for maybe ND but they will probably be in the B1G at that point. The academies will still play each other and other elite teams to create marquee OOC match-ups but they won't be in the club, it won't be that much different than playing a glorified FCS school at that point.

That lineup would be acceptable, if no other options were available. But if 14 was the goal, I'd go with Boise and another good MWC team. Memphis is totally unacceptable, and people should stop bringing them up...

The Big 14
Big East-------------------Big West
Cincinnati-----------------Houston
Louisville------------------Kansas
USF-----------------------KSU
ECU-----------------------Baylor
UCF-----------------------TCU
Iowa State----------------BYU
Missouri/WVU--------------Boise State

This conference would already be a better football conference than the ACC given the current state of its programs.

You obviously don't know what "at least" means. The very least it could be is a courtesy.

I also don't see how that is a better football conference. Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Georgia Tech are all ranked. North Carolina is ranked in the USA today poll.

Having Boise State and BYU in the conference would increase travel costs a lot. I don't think they're viable options other than maybe football only.

I say we at least extend an offer to Boise and possibly Nevada.

Boise State, West Virginia, South Florida, Baylor, and TCU are all ranked by both the AP and Coaches Poll. The average ranking for those programs (using the coaches poll to help your argument) is #15 versus those in the ACC which comes out to #19 when you round down. Additionally ISU, Missouri, and Houston are receiving votes whereas the ACC only has Miami in that category. It also wouldn't have the likes of BC, Duke, UVA, and Wake Forest in it to drag the conference profile down even further. So yes, the hypothetical football conference would be better given the current states of all programs whether WVU or Missouri are in it.

Further analysis shows that the ACC in total recieved 2090 points in the coaches poll, while the new age Big 14 recieved 2457 (without WVU) and 3014 (without Missouri). Now go back to your new little ACC board and go circle j*rk about fading into mediocrity in football (as if you weren't mediocre already) and playing second fiddle to UNC/Duke in basketball. Don't fret though, your academics just might reverse the tumble it has taken 03-nutkick

Well in this situation Pitt & Syracuse have put a big dent in basketball.....Memphis helps us compete in basketball with the other conferences...IMO I think we need them...I think we stll get BCS status even with Memphis football. WVU plays Marshall every year so with Pitt gone it should just be made a conference game..Easy win for WVU..Good for fan travel. Sacrafices need to be made.
