What will happen next?
This is what I think will happen in the coming days:
1. ACC is waiting Texas and ND to make their decision on 15th and 16th team. We should know about Texas today. However, don't expect Texas to join the ACC with equal revenue sharing. It is not happening. ND I doubt they will join a conference but you never know at this point.
2. SEC will invite A&M and might invitie either Missouri or WVU for the 14th spot. If WVU already applied for 14th spot, most likely they area already in. SEC could also go aggressive and poach FSU and VTECH from the ACC. That $20M exit fee won't stop anyone from leaving the ACC. Adding Pitt/CUSE was a defensive for the ACC. Both Pitt and CUSE also might realize the new neighborhood might not be that much better than the one they just left.
3. OU/OSU will head out to PAC-12 regardless what Texas does.
4. Texas/TTECH will join the PAC-12. They will try to negotiate for every advantage but in the end they will give in. They will realize staying with OU is ideal and PAC-12 simply offers too much to turn it down.
5. Once Texas decide its future, ACC will most likely add UCONN/RU as 15th or 16th spot. This is assuming B1G is staying pat. UCONN/RU could be in play there as well. If FSU/VTECH leave the ACC, it will get interesting.
6. Remaining B12 schools and BE schools will merge. Most likely it will be under the B12 banner to retain that BCS bid. UCF/ECU/BYU will most likely be part of discussion to join this group.

The problem with #6 is its likely that the only remaining Big 12 schools worth anything to the BE (Mizzou especially) will have other options.
What would be left-over are poorly supported schools in rural areas. The Waco TX, Manhattan KS, and Ames IA, markets will do nothing for television contracts. Those schools are being discarded for a reason.
IMO, The Big East is going to take a steady proactive approach to expansion by adding large public Universities (like UCF & UH) in major markets (like Orlando & Houston).
To add in bulk without scrutinizing why you're adding would be the death knell of the remaining Big East.

1: I agree with totally.
2: I'm not too sure about yet. Its either WVU or Mizzou but not sure if the SEC will go to 16.
3: Agree
4: Disagree. There isn't enough support with the Pac 12 Presidents to add Texas. And LHN may not be a key issue in this. Arizona schools want to play the Cali schools for recruiting and adding Texas and a Pod system could hinder that. Colorado is also very vocal against Texas. I say Texas goes the Indy route and Tech stays in the Big XII.
5: Read #2 on Va Tech, Clemson, and FSU... Not sure Rutgers or UConn will be added to the ACC any time soon. Its really dependent on when Notre Dame decides to join either the ACC or B1G. I'll assume they join the B1G though. And I'll agree both(Rutgers/UConn) will be in play for the ACC and B1G.
6: I'm not so sure the Big XII and Big East remnants will merge. If both are able to retain their AQ bids I picture both rebuilding-with the Big East schools forming a new all sports league.

Joey, per your #2, the SEC is already at 12...
But otherwise, I think you're spot on...
