Markets remain
I look at it this way, we lost two teams, two friendships, and possibly two games each year, but that is it. Other than that, we lost nothing. Syracuse and Pittsburgh are two teams that were good for our conference to an extent, but obviously the fans are not to blame.
When these two schools left, we did not lose markets. WVU will still bring the Pittsburgh market to the Big East and Rutgers, UCONN, St. Johns, and Seton Hall (well...gotta put them somewhere) will still bring the NYC market, nothing much has changed. We may be weaker, but if WVU and TCU pull this conference together with UCONN and Rutgers, Lville, and Cincinnati, we can be a competitive conference. We did not lose two perenial power house football schools, we lost two good basketball schools. Personally, this could help the BE in ways we never imagine. Time will Tell.

The BEast is dead. The Big XII (in its current form) dies tomorrow. The remaining schools from both will rebuild the Big XII, leaving the non-football schools to Marinatto and their own devices...

This is the most likely scenario. I hope it happens quickly, I don't like all of the focus during college football season being off the field.

It's happening as we speak. Colin Dunlap just reported that WVU has applied for SEC membership...

RE: Markets remain
If we eventually get to the 4 super conferences, I believe Swofford's ACC will be the weakest of the 4.

The ACC will still have basketball, at least, which is their main focus in the first place...

That's sorta like having the smallest yacht in the yacht club, ain't it?
