RE: Abandon Ship or Not ?
Our best and I mean BEST case scenario (our meaning UC)

UCONN/RU stay with us and UC, UofL, RU, USF, UCONN, and TCU join with the B12 left overs.....

and that's BEST case as far as I can see. At least best case that is within realm of possibility

Abandon ship?

No, I think we'll stay. (No one's calling. Maybe the Ohio Valley needs a team.)

Hopefully Oklahoma and OSU bail to the Pac12 this week so we can start our B12 merger

I actually think what's going to happen is something like:

WVU to SEC
RU & UCONN to ACC
OSU, OU, Texas, TTU to Pac
USF, UL, UC, TCU, BYU to Big 12

Would be 10 teams, add 2 more, I'd support Boise if they ditch the blue field. #12 could be an eastern team like ECU or UCF

I Dont see why that conference wouldnt be AQ.
who is left in the big 12, yes adding boise st is a strength move..

i admit i have limited exposure and dont know what goes on behind closed doors but from what i have read and seen Louisville seems to be a class operation.

Only way the BE survives is if SEC takes MO, and the ACC stops at 14. Odds of both happening 15%.

RE: Abandon Ship or Not ?
TCU has to be included because they help you keep your AQ status. You also have to consider BSU for the same reason. You move the B12 headquaters back to St Louis. Doing so opens up all the western teams.

Florida would be out on an island....but you probably add USF and UCF for the markets and access to those recruits.....especially for Cincy and Louisville and ISU for that matter.

You may even consider Memphis for basketball and the Liberty Bowl.

Maybe try something like this. Assume Rutgers and UConn find a home in the ACC. WVU is off to the SEC.

Leftovers:

Baylor
Mizzou
Kansas
KSU
ISU
Louisville
Cincy
USF
TCU

Now you need to add some variation of 3 teams to get to 12......5 to get to 14.....or 7 to get to 16. I think you HAVE to try and get BYU and BSU.....regardless of how unlikely that would be.....that will make a huge difference in how strong you will be. Then you have to choose from the usual suspects from there.

It would be a messed up merger of the BE, the B12 North and the top of last seasons' MWC and WAC.

If this league is guaranteed a automatic bid then I think BYU would be on board. Because we wouldn't make the same TV contract mistakes that got BYU pissed off with the MWC (even though BYU was behind a lot of the MTN stuff).

There is no ship left to abandon...right now we are all on a little raft holding on hoping a ship with either ACC, B12, B10, or SEC stenciled on the sides comes up

Seriously though, someone with editing skills could make a killer pic here. John Marinatto standing emphatically at the peak of a sinking ship, with the remaining 7 teams in life rafts surrounding it.

Abandon ship

IF WVU gets left behind, I want nothing to do with the Big East. Join the Big 12 remnants (Kansas, K-State, Baylor, Iowa St). Add (TCU, WVU, UL, UC and USF) add BYU, Boise St and East Carolina.

Its not perfect by any means, but should be enough to keep the auto bid

Anyone who mentions a hybrid should be put in stocks, publically humiliated, and beaten amongst the head and shoulders by anyone who passes by with a little anger to burn. Random kicks to the butt will also be acceptable...

While geography is becoming less and less meaningful, something about a Florida school and an Idaho or Utah school in the same conference seems unlikely.

RE: Abandon Ship or Not ?
No. I'm not keen on the hybrid. I've always been in favor of an all-sports conference. I've also felt that if Notre Dame wants to be independent, then they should be truly independent. Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows this...
