Louisville in the New Landscape
In that rivals.com writers' opinion piece about who's in and who's out if there are, in the end, 64 BCS-level teams, all 5 writers included Louisville. But I don't think I'm alone in worrying about whether or not Louisville's left out in the cold when everything finally happens. Politics will probably keep us forever out of the SEC super-conference, and academics might keep us out of the eastern super-conference if it's an expanded ACC (and academics certainly would keep us out of the midwestern B1G should it become a super-conference). This leaves only the very shaky Big 12.
So what's going to happen to us? We'll simply move from one conference that everybody thinks is falling apart to another conference that everybody knows is falling apart?
The Big East is our perfect home. I had hoped to stay in it forever, help stabilize it, and see it grow and surpass the ACC. Has it really come to this? Will we be able to take Cincy with us to the Big 12 if we move?
All this sounds very depressing, and we don't know if the Pitt/Syracuse news is true. I hope it's not. We're on the verge of permanence here. Let's not see it fall apart.

We will land on our feet and be find, just have faith in Dr. Ramsey & Tom Jurich.
Worse case, we will be with the leftovers from the BIG EAST/Big XII but not sure under which banner.

Why don't you instead use your longterm relationship with Pitt & Syracuse to prevent them from leaving? A stronger BE is the desired outcome here.
I'm still not convinced that any of this will come to pass. I believe, as was posted on the main board, that ESPN's hand is in this, and that they won't necessarily win the day. The threat of an investigation into communications among the parties in question might be enough to scare them. If not, then the remaining schools might get a settlement out of it.

If I am UL,Cin,TCU, USF, UConn and Rutgers and its true that Pitt, WV and Cuse are headed out. Im calling the big12 schools including Texas and tell them we can combine and makea 14 league and UT can keep its LHN. Obviously OU and OSU are headed out.
That would leave
Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Mizzou, TCU, UL, Cinn, USF, UConn and Rutgers. You need one more for 14
Boise, BYU, UCF, ECU could all be that 14

But the thing is @ this point even without Texas as long as the Big XII has the Fiesta Bowl tie in they are in a stronger position to get who they want out of the BIG EAST then the other way around with Syracuse/Pitt already gone & WVU with one foot out the door.

Be that as it may (and I'll grant that there's some truth to it), the BE schools are not without some cards (no pun intended) to play, since the Big 12 isn't in that strong a position themselves. I hope that any school headed in that direction will do what they can to ensure that their conference brothers are safe. I say that as a Louisville fan, and Louisville is one of the only schools that is always mentioned in Big 12 expansion scenarios. I think Jurich/Ramsey will do nothing to hurt the existing BE football schools. To hell with the non-football schools. Let them have their little league.

I think you will see the left overs work together as a group to join Big12

Why don't you wait and give Jurich time to finish his phone calls.

I have no issue with callling the B12 right now and asking for a merger...and telling Texas they can keep the LHN AND the lion's share of profit sharing....better than going to CUSA

Texas and Oklahoma are going to bolt. It's looking more and more like they'll join the Pac12, making it the Pac16...

Looks more and more like the new Big East- Big12 will look something like
West: TCU,Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Boise
East: UConn, Rutgers, Louisville, USF, Cinncinati and either Mizzou or WV
The Big question is do they keep the Big12 name, form an all sports league or do they keep the Big East banner become a 12/20 league with the nonfootball BE members and keep the BE tourneyu in MSG
I think the BIG answer will be which of the two will bring the biggest revenue for the league.

If FSU goes to the SEC, the ACC will add UConn. Hence we could have West Virginia and Missouri, but again the SEC could take both of them. Nothing is certain or written in stone yet.

I'm sure some will hate this but I think the 12/20 will make the most revenue between the 2 scenarios. But that may be moot if the Hoops schools ain't bout it, bout it.

If the SEC takes both of them, and if the ACC sticks together like it now looks like they might, then how can the SEC avoid making Louisville #16? We're better than anything else in the southern footprint.
