Single-Game Tickets will be available

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Season tickets to the University of Louisville's home football games have all been sold, the earliest sellout in school history.

"We appreciate the support of our fans," said U of L Vice President for Athletics Tom Jurich. "It's apparent that our fans are not only excited about our team, but are looking forward to competition in our first season in the BIG EAST Conference. It's great to see so many people wanting to be a part of our game-day experience."

U of L can sell just under 35,000 season tickets in 42,000-seat Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The remaining seats are held for fans of visiting teams, corporate marketing packages and U of L's internal needs.

A limited number of single game tickets, priced at $32, for each of the Cardinals' home football games will go on sale first at Saturday's fan preview event at the U of L ticket office, located near Gate 2 of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium adjacent to Floyd Street.

After the event, tickets may be purchased with no service fees by visiting that same U of L ticket office weekdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Cardinal fans may also purchase tickets by visiting ticketmaster.com online beginning Monday (Aug. 15), calling (502) 361-3100 or visiting any Ticketmaster Ticket Center, including select statewide Kroger locations.
Last season, U of L set a school record for average home attendance in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, averaging 40,351 in its five home games.

U of L sold out four of its five home games a year ago. Two of the top five crowds ever in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium witnessed games last season: the season opener against Kentucky drew a record 42,681 and a crowd of 42,032 -- the fifth-largest -- saw the Cardinals defeat South Florida.
Fans are invited to attend the Cardinal Football Preview on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 6-9 p.m. in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Giveaways, posters and schedule cards are available for fans at the free event to watch the Cardinals practice, followed by an autograph session.

Seriously, Its time for Louisville to consider an expansion to Papa John.

With 35,000 season ticket holders you could probably a 60,000 seat stadium.

Congrats! I hope your fans enjoy your new league as much as they enjoyed your old one.

Go kick some butt. Some of us, even though we still hate you, are pulling for you to run the conference table.

Good Luck.

Great Job UL. It is nice to see great fan support in the BE. It is time to get Papa John to 60K soon. Glad to see UL and WVU getting huge fan support. UCONN still has a little way to go but they are on the way to sell out the season too.

Re expansion.....PJCS is designed to go to 80K. So the stadium is ready to roll.

UofL is already offically at work planning the expansion of ~18,000 seats, putting PJCS a little over 60000. Knowing the way Tom Jurich operates, I feel very comfortable that this will be underway within the next year, two at max.

So what does this really mean? I know 35K seats are gone. That leaves about 7K. How many tickets do we have to alot for visiting teams? Are those amounts different for each team? What will that leave for the walk up fan? It is time to expand.

Opposing teams are allotted 3000 to begin with but can request more. In C-USA no school ever met the allotment except maybe Memphis so that limit may have been raised in the Big East although I am not certain.

Pretty impressive. My only thought is that a 20K expansion is pretty aggressive...don't you think that something in the 12-15K might make more sense to make sure you don't outstrip demand...that could have a negative impact on season tickets if fans thought they would be able to buy tickets on a game by game basis. Anyway, congrats.

So does that 35k include student tickets as well?

If so how many student tickets are there vs how many people bought season tickets?

Somewhat like buying in bulk at the super market the construction costs per seat fall the greater the volume you build. Contractors have to mobilize equipment and men, the cost of materials rarely goes down and over the long term has always trended upward. Factor in the success of the program, the regular sellouts with irregular scheduals and the fact that only 2 home sellouts per season would make expansion profitable in short order and you have every reason you need to expand to 60,000.

I currently have 4 season tickets. Next year I will have 7, one for my son whose in Iraq, one for his wife to be, and one for my new daugther and son-in-laws new daugther. So they will now only have to fill 19,997 seats, which will happen! 04-cheers
