STORRS, Conn. (August 22, 2005) - The season ticket total for the 2005 University of Connecticut football season reached another milestone this week as the number surpassed the 30,000 total with a week and a half before the first game. Although single-game ticket remain only for the Thursday, Sept. 1 opener vs. Buffalo, a limited amount of six-game season ticket packages remain on sale.

The 30,000-plus season ticket base will easily be the largest in school history as UConn sold 24,000 season tickets in 2003 -- the first year of play in Rentschler Field -- and 28,000 last year. The total of 30,000 is even more staggering considering that the UConn season ticket base was only 4,000 just four years ago in 2001 when the team played at Memorial Stadium on the Storrs campus.

That's nice. If Boston College, Miami, and Virginia Tech hadn't left for the ACC they would have sold out the place.

What kind of comment is that?

History has shown in the past that even with a conference taking a hit, the schools with strong support continue to draw them in.

Fresno was left for dead in the WAC and they continue to pack them in, if your program has a buzz in your community it doesn't matter what conference you play in.
