Hangover
Our Huskies had quite a start. Are we mature enough to avoid a hangover and lay an egg at Kansas? Are we full enough of ourselves to feel content and not have the hunger that we did before Army? I think it's a danger. I'm predicting a slow start and a furious rally that falls short. Kansas 34, NIU 30 and we are left lamenting the slow start. :-(

It is definitely possible, Kansas does have a good offense although I have not heard, does anyone know if their best WR is going to play? I heard he was questionable. I think your scenario could unfold but Im counting on the Huskie offense to be a little too much for Kansas. Would be a huge win that could setup what could be potentially the biggest game in the program's history.

Not a chance. This team is on a mission and #12 won't let it happen.

RE: Hangover
There is a lot of senior leadership on this team, I will be disappointed if they lose for the reasons that Badmoonrising has suggested. Too many of us grew watching Chicago pro sports teams and we are damaged from the experience.

RE: Hangover
I looked at the play by play synopsis of the whole Kansas Mcneese game and it made me realize how entirely beatable this team is....McNeese could have easily won that game...left points on the field....missed FG.....kicked a field goal after a first and goal....went for one (i think two actually) 4th downs inside the ten and didnt make it....Kansas had two miracle plays on 4th downs and long the sustain drives or score....this game could easily have gone the other way....If we are NOT hungover, i look for Harnish and Progar to have some fun in Kansas

RE: Hangover
There's no doubt in my mind that we are the better team. However, a frame of mind during the week plays a big role in how a team plays. A happy team won't play as well as a hungry team. I'd like to know how our guys practice this week.

RE: Hangover
I think the Huskies will continue to be pumped up, simply because they have a great shot to knock off a BCS team in its own stadium. Doeren will be excited as well, since he's playing in his home state. He'll really want to win this game and will drive his players to feel the same way.

Pretty amazing two weeks for Coach Doeren, you couldnt script a schedule any better than that.

RE: Hangover
After watching the first three quarters last Saturday, this team already reminds me a lot of last year's team, and the best word I can come up with is "Swagger". Other than the loss of Jake, I think everyone else lost is fairly replaceable, and now we are a year older. This game will tell a lot, but I cannot see this team being intimidataded in the least and way too expereinced to have a hangover letdown in week 2. Seriously guys, we are going into a Big 12 stadium and expecting (and favored) to win, wtf!!! I am pumped for this whole season!

I'm not saying we'll lose, but we DO have a history of losing and playing poorly against small teams at home.

I loved Harnish ever since he donned the Huskie uniform at Minny his frosh year. He played his heart out every single game and made some mistakes like any young QB would and I have always defended him. Now that he's a senior stud... He had a fumble and an Int. against the U.S. heroes. He better cut that stuff out!

As long as Kansas does not change the surface of their field to one made of plywood, the Huskies should win.
