Why no love for Iowa State?
Academically and athletically, they match up fairly well with the Big East schools. It's a relatively large school with solid fan support. In terms of population, I believe Iowa is much bigger than Nebraska and just slightly smaller than Connecticut. And it's closer than Kansas or Kansas State. I don't see many drawbacks. In what area are they inadequate?

I know they're not Michigan or Oklahoma, but you'd think they were Kent State or New Mexico by reading all of the media and fan comments about them.

RE: Why no love for Iowa State?
I don't get it either to be honest. I get that they arent Kansas or Missouri, but they have a 55k stadium that they regularly sell out, have been a BCS member forever, solid all around program, AAU member. I just dont see what there is to hate. People are getting too wrapped up in markets that they would prefer we take UCF or Houston, the 4th or 5th team in big markets, over the 2nd most important team in the entire state of Iowa. For the record there are over 3 million people in Iowa with 0 professional teams. I just cant figure out the drawbacks here.

I prefer Mizzou, Kansas, and K-State, but if we need to add a 4th (because WVU or Mizzou go to the SEC) I'd be happy with ISU.

Honestly, I'd be fine with ISU and Baylor to get to 14 as well.

ISU is a far better option than the usual c-usa or mac suspects. Its like many of you have been trained to think small.

It isn't hate, it is why settle for a compact when you can drive a full size or maybe even a luxury car.

What luxury cars are you seeing that I'm missing?

Obviously I'd prefer Maryland or BC to them, but they arent coming, unless our new TV deal is monstrous.

You cant be calling a C-USA team a luxury car?

No one is saying take ISU over Kansas, Missouri, hell even K-State, but they arent some pushover.

I think Missouri ends up in the SEC and then Iowa State moves into their spot for Big East membership.

Me too. I really hope Missouri would take SEC's 14th spot instead of WVU. ISU can take Missouri's spot in the BE.

IOWA ST to me would be a great add for the BE. They would be royal to the conference and they have a great fanbase. Academically, they are equal to Missouri with AAU and similar rankings.

Here is another reason why we should bring IOWN ST - traveling fans. Insight Bowl took a 6-6 IOWA ST over 8-4 Missouri because of ISU's traveling fans.

Traveling fans is definitely something the BE could use more of.

BC and MAryland would be full size, as would ECU, who has a much larger market than Iowa State and a very loyal fan base. Another full size would be KSU.

Luxury examples would include UNC, Virginia, FSU, Clemson, VPI. Basically, great markets, good history or academics or both (academics is how Virginia gets in as a luxury).
