RE: I think the Big East is doomed
brista, I've got a question. Did you hear the comments of Oliver Luck, or are you merely commenting on the comments made already?

If it's the former, I'll agree with you. If it's the latter, then you are merely compounding an error...

I was listening, and I didn't hear anything worth taking offense over. He was illustrating a point about the financial situation of the various schools in The BEast, and used Rutgers as an example. But I didn't hear anything worth all this fuss. It's all much ado about nothing IMO...

The former. And I agree nothing to take offense over, but in this climate my feeling is don't say anything negative about anyone even if its true when you're aligned with them and trying to work with them. So while everyone needs to pull the wedgie out, I also see why it wasn't the smartest thing to even talk about.

I'm glad to see you actually checked it out before making comment upon it. IMO you're one of the few that did... 04-cheers

Conferences will expand to 16 teams only if it is economically viable. I'm not buying these "4 team superconference" rumors.

If the Superconferences happen anyway, the question will be will they buy you. Every school is asking themselves that very question, and trying to position themselves to ensure that they'll be included...

RE: I think the Big East is doomed
Brista has the comment of the day:

"...everyone needs to pull the wedgie out..."

Seriously, we get to uptight about a writer that has to create controversy to sell newspapers/hits on the web. Sensationalism is part of their job. Even more so if they are a blogger. Then we fans get all huffy and puffy about statements taken out of context and twisted.

Bit, Brista, Cuseroc, Beej, and several others try to keep us focused on the Big East. Use reason, use common sense, think things through before you post (except for really funny stuff and fair trash talk - we are in season). Thanks to all the moderators and sensible posters.

Big East fans have been beat down because other conferences have to feel arrogant. Right now, two other conferences are on the verge of falling apart, like we have been since our inception. However, we realize change is coming so we embrace it, they despise change even though they cannot stop it. We will survive. I don't see one Big East school being left out in the cold. Remember, 4 superconferences of 16 adds up to 64 schools. That is too slim a margin to maintain the BCS AQ conferences. Either these superconferences will be larger than 16 or there will be another AQ conference. FTT has explained this in detail (thanks, Frank).
