I can't take credit for this idea, but if the Pac-12 goes through with taking 4 Big IIX teams, are you more interested in moving all of our football teams into the Big IIX to finally get the split you want or trying to figure out how to cherrypick the remaining teams and continue with the hybrid?

Yes.....and no.

I want to cherry pick the BXII-3 for one to three teams. Then I want to take them and the BE8 and split from the CYO schools.

The point is - if you do what you said (cherry pick 3 teams from the Big IIX) and walk away from the Big East, you're creating a new conference, meaning you have no basketball dollars or, for that matter, no automatic bid to any postseason play for a while. You're never going to get the "CYO schools" to walk away from the Big East. So, your two likely choices are to become a 12/20 hybrid or go en masse to the Big XII, taking the name, the AQ BCS bid, the Fiesta Bowl anchor and the autobid to the postseason that goes with it.

The Fiesta Bowl is aligned with the big 12 because of the schools in the league. Just because BE schools leave the BE to go to the Big 12 doesnt mean that the Fiesta would still want to be aligned with the new Big 12. They could do the same thing that the Orange Bowl did to the BE after we lost Miami and VT.

+1. I want an all-sports conference but I don't want it to have the Big 12 name. If we have to come up with a new name, so be it.

RE: For those who've been pining for an all sports conference
If KU, KSU and ISU are cherries - I'm sorry. They would be leftovers and if they can maintain BCS status where they are they will try to do so, I believe. This whole thing is going to get very interesting. If I did not have worries with my non-AQ alma mater then it would almost be fun.

I wish for a sensible all-Sports league for WVU. Sensbile to me would not be joining the Big 12 that is for sure. I prefer for WVU in this order:

1) SEC (some current members of the BE would see that as good ridance)

2) Re-formatted BE (without ND involved, but can live with it)

3) ACC

First off, the conference name doesn't matter. The BCS bid will go with the teams. If the eight walk away who is the BE going to put up as its football champion, G'town? Second, the Fiesta Bowl is tied to the B(9) because of the teams in the conf. If the B12 looses the four Tx/Ok schools and then brings in a bunch of BE, C-USA or MWC schools, that tie-in will be out the window. Either way, the required BCS tie-in will not. Meaning the BE still gets to a BCS bowl somewhere. No worse than what we have now.
As for the NCAA bid. It is ONE bid for a conf that can put multiple teams into any tourny. The only tournament that matters is bball, because that one makes big money. The majority of the bball bids go to football schools and those schools would get at large bids.
The only obstacle would be the regular season tv money. Even that can get negotiated. The footballs are the bigger attraction in other sports now so the $$ will follow them.
