WVU’s Evansdale campus could use geothermal for heating, cooling

WVU’s Evansdale campus could use geothermal for heating, cooling
Quote:West Virginia University's Evansdale campus may be ideally situated for the direct use of geothermal heating and cooling.

When West Virginia University scientist Brian Anderson overlays maps of geothermal resources, cold winters and population centers, he finds intersections in northern West Virginia cities such as Morgantown, Fairmont and Clarksburg.

A professor of chemical engineering at WVU, Anderson is a recognized expert who participated in an MIT panel that produced a 2007 report on geothermal energy. He spoke at the Enhanced Geothermal Energy Development Conference May 22 in Flatwoods.

West Virginia's is a low-temperature geothermal resource, Anderson said.
