Guys, I wanted to say now, before the teeth gnashing begins, that it has been and continues to be a pleasure being in a conference with the Mountaineers, and I've enjoyed both our contests as well as interacting with the fans. If you guys do indeed get an invitation to the SEC, you will immediately become my favorite SEC team and I harbor you absolutely no ill will.

That said (and please don't take this the wrong way), I sincerely hope that we're still in the Big East together.

Yep, completely agree. Unfortunately I think they're probably heading out the door to the SEC, and I don't blame them. If they were bailing for the Big 12 or ACC I'd think they were pansies, but you cant fault anyone for accepting an SEC or Big 10 invitation.

If you guys leave, I will really really miss playing against you guys. Ive grown to love our games, I think if given 10 years or so to develop you and USF would have a great thing. We've already had a few classics.

I agree with the sentiments, but still believe that most of this is rumor and not accurate information.

Couldn't agree with this more. Nothing would make me happier than to keep our entire group of 9, add KU, KSU, and Mizzou, and get that monster TV contract that's been rumored. Would love stability with this group to grow rivalries and improve as a group.

The 2 divisions would fit out perfect like this as well.

I agree with this as well. If WVU does receive a SEC offer in this environment, they should take it.

I appreciate what WVU has done for the BE over the years in football and I enjoyed playing against the Eers. It would be a bad day to lose WVU but I will wish them luck in the SEC. They would be a good fit there academically and somewhat culturally. I am not sure they can compete with programs like Bama and LSU, but the stability offered by the SEC can't be denied.

If the SEC invite is good, I just want to wish them good luck and there is no ill from this UCONN fan. It is just a sad day for the northeast football and BE will now has to grow into the mid-west.

My wife is a WVU graduate, and as I said the other day I pull for several Big East schools. I have degees from 2 BE schools, so does my wife. And then our extended family has several other graduates from even more BE schools.

I am a sincere fan of the Big East, and obviously we follow WVU very closely in addition to several others. I just can't imagine now that on the cusp of the best contract in BE history that WVU would leave unless the offer was just too good not to pass up. But what offer would that be?

I think in the end it makes sense for the P12 to go to 16 because they have such a huge portion of the country all to themselves out west.

I think it makes sense for the SEC to go to 14 because they want new membership to redo their TV contract.

For the B10, ACC and BE, going past 12 members (football members in terms of the BE) isn't necessary really, and they are so intertwined in their geography with each other.

As for the B12, it looks like it is a goner.

In the end, I think Missouri joins the SEC and Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State join the Big East.

Thank you for the kind words everyone but its way too early for these kind of sentiments. Historically, WVU hasn't down well when it comes to be adding to or switching leagues

JMO, but if WVU is still in the BE by the time of the LSU game, then its not leaving

I don't think the SEC is dying to get WVU fellas.

No offense. But I don't see WVU as a top two target on the SEC's hit list.

Jackson, the LSU game could also be WVU's measuring stick for the SEC. But I feel there will probably be a decision one way or the other in the next few days. I'm just wondering if this will turn out the way it did previously, when the SEC was down to WVU or South Carolina, and they chose the Gamecocks. WVU could get the ring this time around, or we could be left out once again. Nobody knows at present...

I'd like to thank everyone for the kind regards for WVU from everyone. It would be strange at first in the SEC, without all the traditional rivals. But like I've said before, it would be nice to see WVU every other year without having to travel more than 10 miles...

If the Mountaineers do get an SEC invite, I hope the Brawl continues to be an annual affair, and on it's traditional date. That's one of the oldest and best rivalries in the country. It would also be nice to keep playing the Orange for the Swartzwalder Trophy. That's the 2nd longest active rivalry in the east. Both would be nice OOC games, and those games being an SEC OOC game would only elevate the profile of those games for TV...

But at present, nothing is certain. It all depends on how the dominos fall, and the chain reaction could still miss us altogether. Then again, we could all end up scattering to the 4 winds. I guess we'll find out before conference play begins...

Good luck to everyone. No matter what happens, I hope everyone lands on their feet... 04-cheers

Thanks for all the support guys. I 100% do not want to go to the SEC as I love the Big East and love playing all the teams in the conference. I think WVU moving to the SEC may be a horrible decision in the long run, or it could be great who knows. All I know is I love our conference and hope we dont have to move.

WVU to the SEC rumor mill going full-steam...kind of helps put Oliver Luck's radio comments about RU losing $$$$$ in their Athletic Dept during Sunday's game in perspective...as I don't think there are any major SEC teams that lose $$$ off their football program (especially once the SEC TV $$$$ are added to it).

I have to admit, that I would also feel the same. The rise in USF has been great to watch and you have become a worthy adversary. Lets hope that both institutions find a place of greener pastures with lots of tradition and rivalry.
