At the very least, Nebraska would like to play a Big East team. Of the four schools Nebraska is most serious with about starting future home-and-home series, two are from the basketball power conference: Cincinnati and DePaul. (The others are Virginia of the ACC and California of the Pac-12).

Thanks for posting this. Its a good article that shows what a headache putting together non-conf schedules is.

When I saw the headline, I was hoping it was for football. Bummer.

why would Nebraska want to play us in basketball? Not sure what that gets them or us. We should play them in basketball if they play us in football.

Maybe they'll swing us the same deal OK did.

I think we should offer them the same deal for basketball (times two) that we would get from them for football.

If they would play us two games home and home in football, then I would give them four games home and home in basketball.

If they want 2 home games for one at Nippert in football, then we should get 4 games at the Shoe for two games at Nebraska in basketball.

If they say "forget it" about coming to Cincinnati to play football, we should say "forget it" about going to Nebraska to play hoops.

Nebraska was a decent team last year. They got shellacked in the NIT first round but among their 19 wins were victories against Texas, Mizzou, and Texas A&M. Also lost by three on road at Kansas.

They have the dubious distinction of being just one of three BCS conference programs that has never won a single NCAA tournament game. Northwestern and USF being the other two.

Has USF ever made the dance as a BE school? Heck, have they AT ALL?

USF has been twice, in 1990 and 1992. Lost in the first round both times.

Still not a bad RPI road win for BBall. The game certainly benefits them more than us.

I agree package it with with a home and home FB game.

I wouldn't be opposed to playing a home and home series with Nebraska. A road game against a NIT type team will be a decent RPI boost. I really hope that they can work out a series with a team like Purdue, Michigan, or VPI (who I know will be looking for good OOC games).
