Is it possible for a member to change his name and retain his previous posting data? If so, can someone give me pointers?

Yes it is, provided the name you want to change to isn't taken. Also, changing your name changes your login username as well.

Can this be changed in the User CP somewhere or do we have to send a request to an admin? I can't find the option to do it myself
