For those who enjoy FBS football
Just thought I would remind us all of some positive Huskie vibes. WD might be pretty upset about this video.

Enjoy!

my number one sports memory and being there made it even more satisfying. I think this win and the Maryland win legitimized Huskie football

A great game, and it was great to be there. What impressed the heck out of me was the cordiality and respect of the Alabama fans. That almost shocked me more than the win. If we were to beat tOSU in Columbus or even Wisconsin or Iowa at our "home" Soldier Field, we would fear for our lives leaving the stadium and hope that our cars were in one piece.

I agree. I was there, and the Alabama fans were great people. They congratulated us, and said we deserved to win. I live in the South now and I hate to say it, but generally the people seem friendlier than up North.

As I opened this up, I am wearing my shirt that reads

"2003 Northern Illinois Football: Taking No Prisoners"

NIU 20 #15 Maryland 13
NIU 19 #21 Bama 16
#20 NIU 24 Iowa State 16

"Talking smack in the MAC
Huskies climbing the polls"

Two things I will always love about the ending of that game:

1) The look on Schulas face just says it all "I better start looking for another job"
2) You can absolutely hear a pin drop in here.

Although, you have to keep in mind that we had already beaten a ranked Maryland team at that point. So a little respect was in order. Still, no doubt the fans in Alabama were classier than many would have been.

the best part of the game is that it was no fluke.

Plus Alabama had just lost by only 3 points the week before to #1 ranked Oklahoma. Anyone else remember those "NI Who" stickers they were passing out around campus? I remember getting abour 5 or 6 of them at the Bear Bryant Musuem earlier that day. After you make a puchase there, instead of saying the thank you, the cashier would say "Roll Tide". After the game a bunch of NIU fans waited outside where the NIU players and coaches came out. Turner was mobbed by fans especially younger ones wanting his autograph. I asked Michael how many yards he ran for that night. He casually replied, "one fitty"

But don't forget the warm reception we got at Waffle House after the game. They weren't so nice then! 03-nutkick

As much as that was the one of the biggest if not the biggest moment in NIU's football history, I will also remember it also as the biggest moment in the MAC's football history. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't four ranked teams go down at the hands of MAC teams that day? It was great to watch Sportscenter that day.
