I would say the positive for the BE office would be the ACC wasn't raided so the league can hold on to Syracuse. Given the choice of losing WVU or SU, I would say the BE would MUCH rather hold on to the Orange

I don't think so. We keep hearing over and over again how FB drives the train, and WVU is the league's best overall FB program.
I think it would be a damaging blow to the BE, but it would ultimately recover and continue just fine.
I have no clue whether or not any of this is likely to happen, though; until there is an official announcement, I'll just assume we are in the BE for the long haul.

If WVU is gone I'd bet Pitt, Louisville and ND are all gone too. My guess would be Pitt and ND to the B1G and Louisville and another Big East school to the ACC.

Not sure why that would be significant to the Big East, "Notre Dame doesn't play football in the Big East ... !!!"
The Big East would simply replace them with a Non-Football member, right ???

I would imagine if the ACC takes any BE teams outside of WVU, they would look to Rutgers, UCONN and Syracuse.

I heard it was WVU,Pitt and UL(????) to the ACC with them losing Clemson. Clemson is not a lock for the SEC but that was who they chose to go after for 14.

Honestly I don't think Rutgers figures into anyone's expansion plans. If the whole thing blows up I'd be shocked if we weren't on the outside looking in. If things really go awry my hope would be for the Big East football schools that remain (likely UConn, Rutgers, Cincy, USF and TCU) to invite Temple, UMass, ECU and UCF for 9/16 configuration. (Houston ends up in the Big 12 in my thinking.)

I think it's looking dicier for the Big East by the minute. In the last week it has become apparent to me that UofL and WVU have a home somewhere no matter what. You would have to assume the same for Cuse, Pitt, UConn and to a lesser extent Rutgers due to market size, academics, brand and history. I'm a little scared right now if I'm a UC, USF or TCU fan. You are all deserving but the news trickle isn't favorable.

If the Big Ten wants to expand. They may be fine as is.
Also the Big 12 is another possibility as a WVU departure would indicate Texoma & Mizzou sticking around unless the SEC unexpectedly went to 16.

If WVU left, Pitt would start burning up the phone lines to their contacts in the ACC.

ADs everywhere are running to Wal Mart to buy track phones to try to arrange behind the scenes deals. Your analogy is right on.

Notre Dame doesn't need the Big 10ish, at least not yet
if the mega-conferences pop up any time soon, then the Notre Dame better find a home but until then, they're find being independent

I don't buy Notre Dame going to the Big Ten with this at all. If only A&M leaves the Big 12 then it probably survives and the PAC-12 stays as is. If the SEC is only going to 14, then the status quo isn't altered all that much and Notre Dame isn't going to feel the need to head to the Big Ten (something they have refused numerous times before). If neither Texas nor Notre Dame is moving, the Big Ten is very unlikely to expand. The ACC might expand to counter the SEC, but I only see that if they can renegociate their contract. Otherwise, they are still intact at 12 which remains the status quo for most of college football.

That's what I've been hearing since June.
Message board banter or non-message board banter? (PM me PLEASE!) I heard the national guy on Yahoo or Fox Sports Radio mention this last week when discussing the potential CFB shake up.
PSU and ND every year? Yes, please. Heated OOC rivalry with an SEC team? May I have some more, please?
Makes too much sense so it probably won't happen. It was fun to daydream about it for one minute.

I think if WVU leaves then Pitt keeps on eye out for better pastures. Big 10 probably won't be knocking since there are still other schools in states it doesn't own already. For instance Syracuse is another former AAU and helps them get carriage in upstate NY. Pitt may be forced to wait until the ACC expands.
