I dont know why Espn would do such a poll. But they must be very surprised that the BE is the overwhelming favorite of over 41000 voters. in every part of the country except a few MWC Statets and MAC States.

So far the BE has 55% of votes
MWC has 12%

MAC has 34%

Go to Espn.com home page. Bottom right hand corner for the poll.

cuseroc,

i don't think the point is which conference is the toughest but rather instead of polling the big east conference with the rest of the bcs conferences. instead, ESPN polled the big east with mid-majors. get the point.

The answer to this question really depends on how you interpret the question itself. You asked, "Which is the toughest conference?"

You did not ask which conference has more nationally competitive teams.

To me, your question is really asking "How do all the teams within a given conference stack up to each other?" The Big East was really tough last year given that the best any team could do in conference was 4-2 and there were 3 of them.

I really don't know enough about MWC or MAC this year to make that assessment.

I think what you really want to know is which conference is more competitive nationally. Of course you want to pick the BE. But all summer long we have pretty much agreed that the BE has to prove its worth.

ESPN is a business that has an agenda - pump up a few of the BCS conferences (those that have more support and therefore more TV sets) - and one of them is not the BE. If up to ESPN the BE would lose its BCS status; good thing it is not up to ESPN.

In case you haven't noticed ESPN has a different spin on the BE for basketball - hard to deny that one - and again TV sets.
