No SEC Gentlemens Agreement?
FSU?

Looks like the gentleman agreement doesn't exist. Many in SEC want FSU.

I'm not saying that it exists or not. But we all know very well the politics in college athletics I guarantee you that if Florida doesn't want FSU in the sec. They will make sure the noles don't get the votes while at the same time saying they wouldn't mind their admission and even voting for them to cover their political butt and that goes for the other ones also

RE: No SEC Gentlemens Agreement?
As far as I can see, no invite has been extended to FSU at present. If it was a slam dunk, they'd have their invite already, and would be moving to the SEC in 2012, along with A&M...

RE: No SEC Gentlemens Agreement?
I think this Gentlemen's Agreement rumor was just another ploy by ESPN to stop this realignment before it started.

No invite has been extended to anyone yet...not even aTm.

RE: No SEC Gentlemens Agreement?
In reality how much does it impact FL?

Recruiting? FSU already gets top recruits.

They'll have to play them? They already do.

Yeah the game would "count" more as a division rival, but it's not that much of a change is it?

RE: No SEC Gentlemens Agreement?
I understood the agreement was meant to be applied if the present school within the state was against the new school from the same state coming in. If there was no objection from Florida or South Carolina for FSU or Clemson, respectively, then there would be no need to exercise the gentleman's agreement. Whereas, if Georgia did NOT want GATech, then the agreement would be utilized.

FSU would also effect Alabama and Auburn in terms of recruiting. But they already do IMO.

RE: No SEC Gentlemens Agreement?
There's at least 6 SEC schools that would vote against FSU, and they need 9 votes to get in...

More than the gentlemans agreement, the biggest player is ESPN. TV is whats driving the bigger revenues for the leagues and with ESPN having a hand in most of them, its not in their best interest for conference realignments after contracts are signed.

It appears ESPN is a very small player in this. Otherwise, none of this would be happening. They seem to be hellbent on doing this despite the fact that they are unlikely to get more money from ESPN.

I think the only one hellbent to do this is AM otherwise it would be a done deal already

Sorry.

LULZ at those quotes.

Of course the Cocks won't VOTE to keep Clemson out. they don't need to worry about it.

And Spurrier sounds just like Daddy Mass used to sound when he was talking about how Nova would not block Temple from joining the BEAST as an all sports member.

It just never seemed to happen. Imagine THAT!

Course, Rollie baby was busted later by a tape recording where he spouted what he really felt about Temple and the BEAST. Spurrier will not be that stupido!
