RE: SEC to stay at 12
The Ags want out of the Longhorn Conference, period.
Won't happen, of course, but TCU needs a traveling partner for 10/18.

I realize this is still up in the air, but if true, I wonder if Texas will give them a whooping when they come home like a parent when a kid tries to run away?

Looks like Loiuisville fans will have to come up with more scenarios to get them into another conference.

Not sure its over yet. Can't Aggies leave the conference and then appply for membership to the SEC. How about the PAC-12. Maybe A&M comes back and Texas conference adds a few teams.

Rath, most of us don't want to go or even looking to go to another league. All we are say'n is if the SEC came call'n we would have to jump.
Cincinnati would do the same if the Big 1G sent out an offer.

Aggies dont fit the Pac12. Yeah I guess they can withdraw and apply as an indy, but they better be sure the SEC would take them.

A&M just has to leave the conference then apply for membership. Then the SEC can accept it. BOOM Texas A&M in the SEC.

RE: SEC to stay at 12
The one thing this tells me is this:
No more talk of adding Non AQ schools to the BIG EAST!!!
If we are going to expand we do it by adding schools from AQ Leagues. No more talk of Temple, Villanova, Army, Navy, Memphis, East Carolina-(Whom I actually like), Houston & UCF.
If conference realignment is done for now-(until next year) the only schools we should even consider adding are schools like Maryland, Boston College, Miami, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State & Missouri.
When it is all said and done the BIG EAST will likely have the 3rd richest TV Contract of the 6 BCS Conferences. We need to start acting like we are one of the Big Boys instead of settling for the crumbs.

Not sure what the point would be. It is obvious they have already had contact with the SEC so if this is a legal issue that ship has sailed. Either they can leave the Big 12 as established by conference bylaws for the SEC or they cannot.
One this is for sure and that is the Big East needs to figure out what they are and what they realistically can be. Time for the football schools to cut the cord and make moves that will turn them into a respected all-sports conference.

That's how I read it as well, but may also mean A&M has to nevagate through the politics of the texas legislature before appyling

If by "Loiuisville" you're referring to UofL, this is very unfair. Louisville fans have simply been responding to reports not of our making that we were under consideration. The vast majority of Louisville fans - along with our administration - prefers a stable Big East to any other conference. But until Pitt, Cuse & Rutgers make it clear that they'll never entertain offers from another conference, then Louisville has to protect its own programs.
Our main goal is now and always has to be protecting ourselves from the ACC. We'll never be able to protect ourselves should the Big 10 or SEC come calling.
By the way, it's being reported by many that, legally, the SEC had to state what they did today. They can't offer until the A&M board officially approaches them.
Either way, UofL didn't start this conversation, and UofL fans didn't mention it outside the context of newspaper articles talking about it. I didn't see any such snide comments when it was WVU being mentioned by the SEC, or last year when it was Rutgers to the Big 10.

University of Florida president Dr. Bernie Machen said the conference's presidents and chancellors met on Sunday and "reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment."
You think the SEC will suddenly become dissatisfied on Tuesday?

RE: SEC to stay at 12
My point is WHY would the SEC have such a meeting and vote today, if they had to wait for AM to vote on monday to leave Big12. You mean to tell me they didnt know that in adavance? If that was an issue they could have held their meeting and vote AFTER Texas AM voted.
