I predicted Pitt to finish in 2nd place but with a strong chance to win the Big East. I'm backing off of that, Pitt ain't winning SH*T this year unless they get their house in order RIGHT NOW. Pathetic performance. You put up points like that in the opening minutes and only manage 3 more points as I type this, 7+ minutes left in the 3rd qtr? And you let Notre Dame score 42 points on you? IN YOUR HOUSE!? Jesus I'm p*ssed off right now. And, of course, I'm going to have to hear some fans of other teams in the conference, a select few, whining about leaving the Big East and running off to the Big Ten, SEC or whatever other conference to gravy train. Look, you're in the Big East and if your team would step up to the plate and produce we wouldn't/won't have to hear about how bad the Big East is. That includes EVERYBODY in this conference. Nobody is going anywhere so lets stop b*tching, whining, and moaning and wishing for something that's not going to happen, get our collective @sses in check and win some games. We have a conference game tomorrow which should be solid, and we need Louisville take care of business. Disgusting. 03-puke

i agree, it was horrendous.. I predicted that Pitt would win the league, but now.... unless the ND was an aberration, I can't see them with better than 4 conference wins.

But, then again, ND looked MUCH MUCH MUCH better than last year, so we'll see. But still: very disappointing.

ND was a bad first game matchupfor us. Our D line is small and green. Their O line is huge and experienced. As the season goes forward, our D line will get better and we won't see another Oline of that caliber again. Pitt might still win the BE. Cat's Claw I gurantee we will beat Cincy easily.

And if that happens the rest of the nation will remember this performance against ND and think the BE is nothing but a pretender conference that isnt deserving of it's BCS bid. The MWC outperformed us today...

If we win our BCS game, none of that will matter. Trust me, if Pitt goes 11-1 (doubtful) and wins a BCS game, nobody will be worried about the conference. ND is going to have a good year this year. I fully expect ND to beat Mcihigan next week.

I don't want to make it like I'm trashing Pitt because lord knows I we know the feeling (last year's Louisville game, and Army game), but this was a big game for Pitt and the conference, and for Pitt to lay down like that, at home, against an inferior Notre Dame squad hurts badly.

1. I don't think ND is an "inferior team" as you posted........

2. To guarantee that Pitt will beat UC "easily" is something you DON'T know. Will you win...probably...should you win....probably but to guarantee a win "easily" is something you cannot say. Granted, UC barely beat EMU but again...UC has only 11 Sr. and just about nobody with any experience and this game was the first college game ever for 3/4 of the team.....I expect they will get nothing but better as the season progresses.......and frosh QB Grutza is going to be a GOOD one!!

The thing you have to like about UC in the future is that Dantonio recruited and got a lot of kids of Elder's state championship team and Colerain's state championship team and so what I'm saying is, UC has some key players on the team that know how to win and expect to win and played together on wining teams.

Again, I'm disappointed about Pitt's performance but just relax, there is a lot of football to be played this year.

Go Cats....Go Panthers....Go Big East!!!

Don't expect ND to be great simply because they pasted Pitt last night. I can't imagine it would only take Weis one game to turn ND from irrelevance to title contender. I tend to think their superior performance was mostly related to Pitt being unprepared to play.

I read at least one person on this board claim that Palko was the best QB in the nation. Either that is a false statement, or indeed he is the best and the rest of the Pitt team is simply the worst. Either way you look at it, you would expect a former defensive coordinator with two SB rings under his belt to prepare his defense better than that.

Pitts season will depend on the line play. IF they can't play well in the trenches, its going ot be a long season.

Cats Claw, don't forget that UC will be going to play at Pitt very soon. ND looked a lot better than they have the past 10 years or so.

It was certainly a bad start by Pitt but I suspect they will get over it.

I like UofL's chances to win the conference a lot more now, however.

every one was saying watch ND's weak d get ripped apart by the best QB in the BE...it will be a close game...Woody Paige said 42-10 Pitt...
I have never seen any team unable to defend simple screen plays, I felt so happy when the ND Dlineman sacked Palko and while getting up pushed back to the ground, all of you counted ND out from the getgo, don't bs
04-cheers
I enjoyed that thrashing very much
