If the league adds at least two from PSU, ND, BYU, Miami, VT, MD, and BC then I would be fine with 9 conference games.
If we add one or none of those programs and two/three from KS, K-State, UCF, UH, ECU, Navy, etc. I'd rather 8 conference games.
Cheers,

Agreed. Most BE fans are not enamored with locking in annual games with Memphis, UCF, ECU, Houston, Marshall, Southern Miss, etc. Even BYU is not desirable to have as an annual opponent either.

From having been in a conference with most of those schools at one time, I can tell you that football series with ECU and Southern Miss are perfectly fine. They have better travelling fan bases than some BE teams at times, and their fans are very knowledgeable and likeable. They are also usually are competitive teams, if they don't outright beat you. You can debate whether they deserve a BE invitation or not, but they would be teams you would not mind playing games against, that I can tell you.
Actually, not so much recently, but Southern Miss has this "bad" habit of kicking the **** out of Louisville over the years (that god damned Brett Favre). And ECU will bring 10,000 fans to your stadium and take over your parking lot. On second thought, maybe we shouldn't play them anymore.

Good point...plus I'm sure fans of those CUSA schools would prefer to play certain Big East Schools and probably wouldn't care about others...so it obviously goes both ways of the spectrum.

I wouldn't mind BYU as an annual opponent at all. In both sports.
Cheers,
Neil

Maybe ECU will travel to Louisville, but they didn't to the Dome.
But I certainly wouldn't mind ECU as #10.
Cheers,

Well, Syracuse fans never come to The Oven, so...
That said, that is a long ass trip from Syr to ECU in either direction.

Overall yes, Southern Miss had Louisville's number. In the 80's and 90's they were the better program, and it showed. From 1982-1999, the Eagles were 14-2 against UofL, and through 1999 led the all-time series 15-4-1. Since 2000 however, UofL is 5-0 against the Golden Eagles. The domination is long over.
As for ECU, they certainly have very nice home attendance recently. My only personal experience with their travelling was the last time UofL and ECU matched up, in 2004 in Louisville. I was not at all impressed with the visiting fan total, however I'll give them a pass as it was 7 years ago and was in the middle of their down years. A lot of people decide not to travel when the team is only winning 1 or 2 games a year.
