Oh My $%^&*! Word!!!

AT&T - Been on hold for over 45 minutes due to high call volume!!! On a Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Yeah right. I'm trying to set up internet at my new apt. at the end of this month.

Knology - Can't get hold of anyone to disconnect my existing service and where to drop off the equipment.

Charter - Can't browse their website since their own webpage states that service is not available even though IT IS and I HAVE TO HAVE CHARTER for cable at my new apt.

I am going to go off on each of these companies, assuming of course that I actually get to speak to someone live.

There is something to be said for setting up an HTPC, cutting the cable and not dealing with media companies ever again. Life is better without a cable bill.

I haven't had cable for the past 4 months. I haven't missed it. I watch my football at a restaurant. But I have to have internet access which is why I needed to call AT&T and Charter. Charter has the cable lines and AT&T has the phone lines in the apt complex. I was trying to find out the rates for either Charter Hi-speed or AT&T DSL. I tried going through the website for Charter but that was a huge mistake. I ended up going to an AT&T store for my answers for that setup. I can't get ahold of Knology to turn off my current internet.

I was actually on hold for over an hour (1 hr and 12 mins to be exact). I was still on hold when I walked into the AT&T store and got my questions answered there. Finally my call was answered about 5 minutes into the store. I made the woman wait for me to finish asking my questions to the guy in the store first and then talked to her. Luckily I didn't hang up because she needed to tell me if DSL was available in those apts and the guy at the store couldn't. The worst part was getting through the first 3 to 5 minutes of automatic BS to actually be put on hold.

None of these companies would get my business but I have to have either Charter or AT&T internet so I'm screwed either way.

I'd strangle a bammer to have AT&T again.

I currently have Hughesnet.

I'm paying, or I was paying high speed prices for dial up speed dsl. Just signed up with the local co op today.

On a related note, I do like AT&T and their U-Verse service. Cell phone not too much.

I wish I could get the Uverse service but no such luck in an apt complex. My brother really likes the Uverse service. I would go totally wireless with my internet but the unlimited plan is too high.

One of the disadvantages of rural living is less choice in such things. Coosa Cable is the only cable company and CenturyLink is the only phone service in most places. That's why I went to DirecTV for TV and CL DSL for internet. It isn't cheap with no competition. Coosa Cable was cutting basic channels (down to about 40 when I left) to force going to more choice of channels and HD. Both were/are out when it rains hard.

I wish I could get DirecTV or AT&T U-Verse, but I'm stuck with craptacular Mediacom. Cruddy service and cruddy HD selection. Can't get anything else because my complex mandates that we only have Mediacom.

God, I can't wait to get a house.

I had HughesNet (formerly Direcway) for a year or so before we had AT&T capability for the internet.

Before that, I had Earthlink & dialup.

Currently we have Directv for satellite, last year we had Dish Network.
