Keep it up!

I don't know the historical numbers, but from the classes coming together so far it looks like the BE could have its best recruiting year since the realignment (i.e. ACC expansion and new BE teams joining).

Just a few years ago, Rutgers, Pitt and WVU were all in the top 25 fairly often.

RE: Cincinnati Recruiting
WVU's recruiting jumps up and down the chart. Our coaches examine a lot of small schools, and many of those kids are missed by the recruiting services, which mostly examine the bigger schools and football camps. Rating recruits is still a crap shoot at best, and not all kids get seen by the services. There's a lot of country to cover...

WVU DL Coach Kirlav in particular is great at building up a kid, and molding him into an ideal lineman. Most of WVU's best D-linemen recently came into Morgantown recruited for some other position. Scooter Berry came in as a FB, and Chris Neild was originally a TE (I think). Both are hoping to make NFL rosters at present...

When it comes down to it, the ultimate way to judge is by wins and losses over time. Rivals did such a comparison not too long ago, and The BEast has a number of the better schools in this respect...

In poll ranking or recruiting ranking? Because I don't see a Rutgers top 25 class on either Rivals or Scout going back to 2002.

Of course, by the way their fans talk on the rivals mainboard you would think they pull in top 5 classes every year.

RE: Cincinnati Recruiting
I was following Scout about 3-4 years ago, and Rutgers was at or near the top 25 a couple years after 2006, where they rode their wave.

Bit has a point. The best players in the RR era were somewhat underrecruited (White, Slaton). But, RR's couple classes afterward (just before leaving) were pretty high from what I recall.

And, Pitt was actually a fixture in the top 10-15 under Wanny.

I think RR's later recruiting classes were attributed more to the success he had with the type of players he recruited. IMO a lot of kid's reps are hyped up due to the coach at the school he signs with. Rating kids is a crap shoot at best. So coaches who get the most out of their kids, and are good at selecting talent that gives them a chance at the BCS Championship, are going to get the higher rated classes, for that reason alone, if for no other...

Yep, and the guys are working at the recruiting services for a reason. The best talent evaluators are sitting on coaching staffs not working for a recruiting outlet.

That depends on the coaching staff. Some of them I have serious doubts about... 07-coffee3
