Help USA jobs.
Help USA jobs.

Subject: Have you called an 800 number lately? It’s your choice who you speak with!!

Any time you call an 800 number (for a credit card, banking, charter communications, health and other insurance, computer help desk, etc) and you find that you’re talking to a foreign customer service representative (perhaps in India, Philippines, etc), please consider doing the following:

After you connect and you realize that the customer service representative is not from the USA (you can always ask if you are not sure about the accent), please, very politely (this is not about trashing other cultures) say,

“I’d like to speak to a customer service representative in the United States of America.”

The rep might suggest talking to his/her manager, but, again, politely say, “Thank you, but I’d like to speak to a customer service representative in the USA.”

YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED TO A REP IN THE USA.

That’s the rule and the LAW.

It takes less than one minute to have your call re-directed to the USA.

Tonight when I got redirected to a USA rep, I asked again to make sure
- and yes, she was from Fort Lauderdale.

Imagine what would happen if every US citizen insisted on talking to only US phone reps from this day on.

Imagine how that would ultimately impact the number of US jobs that would need to be created ASAP.

If I tell 10 people to consider this and you tell 10 people to consider doing this – see what I mean…it becomes an exercise in viral marketing 101.

Remember – the goal here is to restore jobs back here at home – not to be abrupt or rude to a foreign phone rep.
You may even get correct answers, good advice, and solutions to your problem – in real English.

Had I read this a few weeks ago, I would have asked that my call to the Henry Field Plant Nursery (HQ in Indiana) which was answered by a guy in North India be routed to someone stateside that I could understand. When my order was misunderstood, I did get a later call from an American agent who told me I needed to send more money for the plants I wanted. I have not yet received my order, but that may be due to the hot weather. They may be waiting for the cooler fall shipping season. We will see. Stark Bros. will not even take orders at this time of year.

Even if this were real...

Imagine how much this would drive up the cost of goods and services.

Imagine how corporations would move ALL customer service jobs overseas so that they would not have to comply with this law.

But hey, maybe if we just stop buying gas from ExxonMobil for one day, gas prices will be cut in half instantly. 03-lmfao

Well damn. I got that off of an article about people bitchin about foreigners on the phone when you call about missing parts while putting shelves, entertainment centers, etc together.

My son in-law just got grey hair trying to put an entertainment center together. Several parts were missing and parts that were supposed to be different were exactly the same.

The company was out of Ohio, the components were from Ohio, and the 1-800 number connected us to Bangalore (boiled beans) India. He couldn't understand them, I couldn't even understand them, and I am usually pretty good at translating foreign accents into redneck.

I told him to box it back up, take it back to wal-mart (the great satan).

No matter how simple or complex the item appears to be, I ALWAYS make sure that all the pieces have been provided. Step 1 - Find the directions and parts list. Step 2 - Verify all items listed are present and properly marked. If not, I box them back up and take it back to the store.

My family would laugh at me when I do this but I don't have any issues assembling furniture, bookshelves, etc. by following the directions with all the provided parts regardless of who the company hires for their customer service.

RE: Help USA jobs.
As illustrated by the above stories, it is the AMERICAN businessman who has moved American jobs to other countries in Asia, South and Central America and , I suppose, next decade to Africa. As some have related in the news media, this is what makes this Recession different from the 1930s Depression. The American jobs have not evaporated. They are being done today, just not by Americans in the U.S.A.

Foreign nation's businesses are moving some jobs to the US in order to take advantage of states who are giving them preferential tax (and labor union) advantages they often deny to American businesses in those same states. We indeed may not be in a "recession" at all, but are witness to the New Economy to which we may painfully have to adjust. Americans are used to businesses moving jobs to cheaper labor locations. We just are not used to that being US!

Did we just get chain lettered? In what realm would it be the law that you have the right to speak to someone in the US, and how would THAT not be government intrusion into our lives?
