Women of Troy Cross Country Finishes Fifth At Cal State Fullerton Invitational
Danielle Morrell leads USC in season opener.

Brea, Calif. - Senior Danielle Morrell finished 23rd to lead the Women of Troy cross country team to a fifth-place finish on Saturday (Aug. 31) at the Cal State Fullerton Cross Country Invitational held at Carbon Canyon Regional Park.

Stanford won the 5,000-meter event with 19 team points, followed by UCLA (43), UC Santa Barbara (129), Cal Coast Track Club (131) and then USC (157).

Morrell, who was an outdoor Pac-10 qualifier in the 1500m last spring, had a time of 18:37.40. Stanford's Alicia Craig won in 17:01.70.

Also for USC, Kate Pinta was 33rd (19:08.30), Harlye Maya was 39th (19:20.80), Crystal Becker was 50th (19:41.90), Meghan Mainwaring was 52nd (19:42.80), Kathryn Neeper was 55th (19:45.50), Heather Hennessy was 69th (20:09.40), Holly Peters was 80th (20:21.60), Jessica Cuevas was 103rd (21:06.90), Goldie Tompkins was 109th (21:19.70), Guisell Torres was 126th (22:13.90), Rosita Janbakhsh was 137th (23:48.80) and Amber Olsen was 144th (24:27.30).

USC is next in action at the San Diego State "Aztec Invitational" on Saturday, Sept. 14.
